I need a 2nd keyless entry fob, can I purchase any for an Acura and it will work ? The fob does not have to be programmed at the dealership, just the actual key, which I purchased and had cut and programmed at the local locksmith. They did not have a remote for my car.

Well I would assume that the remote has to be identical to the one you have now. And it have to be programmed to work with your specific car. But where else, besides the Acura dealership, would it be programmed?

Sorry for the confusion. The keyless entry remote, can be programmed by yourself by following a set of directions by putting the key into the ignition etc.......

The actual key that drives your specific vehicle, has to be done usually at the dealership. But, I was able to purchase a 2nd key and have it cut and programmed at a local locksmith for $40.

My question is, do I have to purchase a remote exactly like the one I have or will any Acura remote work ?
