Rear window smashed...
Yep, so today when I was walking up to my car I noticed that my rear window had been smashed by what looks to be a skyy vodka bottle. The tint seemed to do a great job holding most of the shattered glass out of my back seat... What is wrong with people!? Does anyone know if this is a part that can be found in junk yards, or on websites such as car-part.com? Is it called the rear windshield, or just window?

Sorry to hear...
With my issuance company I have free glass replacement for all the windows. I'm not sure what type of issuance coverage you have but definitely check. Also my premium didn't go up so def ask the question as well.

I just checked my insurance policy, and I am not covered for vandalism. Not sure why I opted out of this... Hindsight sure is 20/20.
I have not filed a police report. Is it worth my time?

Sorry to hear OP...on a positive note, this piece should be relatively inexpensive, especially if you get a used one...good thing it wasnt keyed as some members have experienced

^^^^Yup i agree about the keying, i am still going with mine (a few more days), but, i am not sure why you wouldnt have comprehensive on your car, it helps with this type of crap, especially in this day and age. Its always good to fill out a police report. They do studies to find out what goes on oin different cities, and car theft and vandalism is one study they do.

It happened while I was parked curbside near the student housing at the Ohio State campus. The student housing backs up into "the hood" and there is a ton of crime in the area. When I was a student there, someone threw a beer bottle through the front window of my apartment. Whats up with that shit!? Luckily, in that case, my land lord's insurance took care of it.

Dam man, I'm really surprised glass isn't covered even if it wasn't under being vandalized. Say your driving and something hits one of your windows due to a strong gust of wind or some shit, what does that fall under?
Hopefully you'll find one for cheap at a junkyard or something. Good luck to you man.

It was probably a drunk student that did the damage; I suggest that you contact the university police dept and let them know what happened.
Also depending on what insurance laws your state has, you may have free glass coverage on your car. I'd call up your insurance company and ask if they cover glass first. I know when my windshield was cracked on my TL gieco stepped up to the plate and got me a new one free of charge that was from AP TECH just like the Factory glass

I have Geico, so I'll give them a call tonight and see what they can do for me. In the meantime, I scheduled an apointment for tomorrow to have someone come out to my office and replace it. I can always cancel if my insurance wants to help me out!
What about getting the new window tinted? Do you guys think I need to get the same brand tint so it doesnt look mismatched, or just any higher quality stuff will do?
