Rear Quarter Window Tint Question...

Does anybody know exactly how they do the "complete tint" on the rear quarter glass? I have my tint guy coming over this weekend, and I want to be prepared. I figured any extra insight will greatly increase my chances of a perfect tint job from the get-go...

Thanks for the help everybody.

I have the same question - I searched a few posts and someone said to have them cut the film using the outside of the glass for the template. That way they cut enough to squeeze under the rubber moulding on the inside.

Not sure if that's what most shops do but it's a start!

Most tint shops cut the tint using the outside of the glass for the pattern. My tint shop did it just like that. He then was able to slide the tint under the rubber molding from inside and cover the entire triangle windows completely.

Good to know. I hope he doesn't charge me extra for the PITA factor. He gives me really good prices and offered to do the whole car with 15% (Vegas is very hot) for $145. This doesn't include the windshield of course...

Another poster showed the tinter removing the rear quarter glass completely. Tinted it and put it back in.

I think the general tone of response was "over kill", but there was no question about edge-to-edge tint.

have them cut to size and then push it under the rubber. as i understand, the only problem with this is the window needs to be completely clean, and it is hard to clean under the rubber, so you run the risk of having some dirt in there. regardless, it still looks better than window that is not completely covered.
