Rear quarter window tint??

Rear quarter window tint??
I am planning on getting my car tinted on monday. The problem is I am bothered by how the rear quarter windows on most of the TL's I see have seen. Most of them have about 1/2" - 3/4" gap of where there is no tint because of the inner seal. The tinter at the place I am thinking of going said that it can not be done completely without removing the windows. I read in this link https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=171981 that it does seem to be possible. Any advice???

Find a new tinter.
It's not at all hard to tint under those seals. It just takes a few minutes longer per side. And nothing needs to be removed. I'm in shock that the tinter would tell you such nonsense.
Seriously, go to another shop. The reason this isn't done at most shops is simply due to shear laziness.

Oh man. Black tape?
It should work like this:
1 piece of film is cut to size to fit on the entire glass (including the part under the seal.
film is applied
and then a skinny, spatula like tool is used to gently lift the seal and fit the "excess" film under
then you're left with a clean uniform look.
Under no circumstances should tape be used.

For real man, find another tinter. There are plenty of us that have our tint done perfectly.

I had the same issue when I had my car done a month ago. If the tinter is using a computer program to cut the film it will cut the film too small to fit on the entire window. All he has to do is hand-cut the piece for the quarter-window. The guy who told you that they have to take the window off is either lazy or doesn't know what he's doing. You should probably find a new tinter.

The guys that tinted my TL remover the rear quarter window. They then tinted the window and replaced it. It only took about 5 minutes to remove it.

Thats true. But on a regular window it seems very weird.

They had no problem whatsoever tinting the rear quarter panel when I got mine tinted, and that was before I joined, had no idea that people had problems with getting their rear quarter tinted.
Seems like you need to find a new tinter who wont even say a thing, and just do it. Like mine in Concord, NC who also applied moleskin when I didnt even know what it was!!

When I told my tint guy (who's been in the business over 20 years) that I wanted to tint up under the seal he was sceptical (right spelling?) about how it would come out, but he was willing to give it a shot. The first side came out ok, still about 1/8" gap around edges - the other side came out perfect. Moral is - a good tinter won't just try to get out of doing it, he'll size it up and try and if he's skilled, he can make it happen and look nice...

They told me that same line of BS. They said they'd have to take the window out, but when he actually did it, he decided to be nice and took the time to shove it in their under the seal. No window removal, not cutting of rubber or anything. You just have to shove it in there while probably pulling up on the seal. I paid $165
