Rear License Plate Trim

Hey all...

There isn't very much I don't like about the looks of our cars but...

I have ALWAYS hated the cheap looking trim around the rear license plate/backup lights.

Has anybody changed out this piece of cheap plastic?

Thanks!

You could always paint it body color. I thought of doing that before I bought the car but now I have grown to like the trim. I haven't seen anyone who has done it though.

You can remove that piece and have it chromed. I will be having it done soon to match what I did to the front of my car. I despise all of the brushed aluminum on the TL...and it's not that I'm some sort of bling pimp either; I just don't like the brushed aluminum on the TL.

One problem I thought of if you want to plate/chrome it is....what would you do around the back-up lights? No matter how you paint/mask it I think it won't really come out right...maybe if you painted some ribs/texture/design over it?

Am I thinking of the same thing you guys are talking about? I'm only referring to that little strip that goes over the license plate, not the entire carbon-fiber-ish looking plastic assembly...

I know what you mean. I don't think it looks awful or super-bad or anything, but I agree that it -- at the very least -- it could look better than it does.

Actually I think it looks best on the anthracite maybe NBP too, because at least it blends in and it looks less noticable. It seems to clash with other colors.

I don't like that piece either. I had mine painted body-color and I love it! You can't even see it in that pic it blends so well. You can see better pics in my thread later.

not the silver strip across, we are talking about the entire frame where the license plate goes with the reverse lights etc....

The gray/silver striped part.

Ooohhh. nah, I like that part with the stripe look or whatever to it (on the sides of the license plate). With my look it blends well on a NBP. Here is a better pic of it:
