Rear Deck Rattle

I dropped my car off for the annoying rear deck rattle. Tech went on test drive with me and of course it didn't happen today. It sounds like a tin can at times and rattles on rough roads and with bassy music. I hope they get it fixed today. The tech told me he hasn't heard of anyone else complianing about this problem.

It rattles on rough roads or with bassy music. I can also tap on the rear deck and hear something rattle.

seat belt brackets in the back? Loose or something? Can we fix ourselves?
Once fixed, there is no longer the rattle in the deck with bassy music?

really?

I complained about rattling in the back with music or no music, 5 or 40, and they had the rear deck replaced completely. They also put insulation padding or something back there to keep it from happening again. It sounds good with bass and does not rattle - too much. I still hear some slight rattle on occasion, but not as bad as before. The seatbelt brackets are part of the rear deck, so we could be talking on in the same here....

Look up - the culprit might actually be the 3rd brake light housing. The rubber seal that is supposed to keep the plastic housing away from the window isn't thick enough. With enough bass or big enough bumps, the plastic housing rattles on the window. I'd suggest a bit of foam in there, just haven't gotten to it myself yet.

I also had the rear seat belt retractor fix done. That , however, was a much louder rattle.

Cheers.

be careful

be careful when you take your car to the dealer. i took mine 2 weeks ago for that same problem and the geniuses took the back seat off and let it drag along the interior :sqntfawk: . so i told them i'll take it back when they have a TL loaner for me. now i got a sh!tty TL loaner and not only will they ATTEMPT to fix the rattle, they also gotta send it out to a body shop to fix their "human error". i expected better from acura, or am i expecting too much. on top of all that none of the service advisors or manager knew about the damage. luckily i saw before i left the lot
