Rear deck question?

Maybe I am just paranoid now since the dealer caused some damage when fixing my rear deck rattle. I just noticed at the back of the rear deck right in the center the piece of plastic that runs along the back of the deck has a bulge in it. Maybe this is normal? Seems to correspond with where the trunk light is. Not a huge deal and maybe it has always been this way? Right in teh very center of the rear window where the black piece of platic is inserted in the rear deck. Can anyone confirm that this is normal? Are others seeing the same thing?

mine has a bulge...the rattle drove me nuts, they dynamatted the entire rear deck...but i had them order a new rear deck cover and my problem was solved after 100's of headaches...(long story)

when u hear the rattle, press down on the middle of the deck close to the rear window and it will stop...there is a piece of metal or plastic or something that bangs...at least that was my issue...

Thanks for the quick response. Just wanted to make sure the slight buulge was "normal". They seem to have fixed my rattle, haven't heard it for 4-5 days now. They claim if was something in the trucnk hinge? Haven't heard that one, but it seems to be fixed. I have another post about the damge they caused getting the fix done though. Taking it in tomorrow to HOPEFULLY get them to agree to fix the damge. Just wanted to make sure the "bulge" wasn't something I needed them to fix also. Thanks.

That bulge... it is there because whoever put the deck back on did not get that guide slipped into the slot. I had that bulge after the first time I removed/replaced the deck cover.. this time when I took off the deck cover, I looked closely at the way the cover fits the deck and sure enough, there was a plastic tab that fits into a slot that I didn't get right the first time... it is fixed now! Hope this helps.

Anyone else that has not had the deck cover removed have this bulge? I am wondering if many of these cars are coming this way from the factory for some reason. I looked at a couple of brand new cars on the dealers lot this morning and they had it also?

One other question. Is this something that you have to remove the rear seat to fix or will it "snap" into place just by pushing on it? Just wondering how hard this would be to fix and if it is worth the trouble and possibility of damaging something else or creating another rattle.

That tab is hook shaped and has to be slid into the "catch" in the metal deck pan. It took me a couple of tries to get it.

The back seat and C-pillar covers were removed.
