When I ordered my TL, I asked the dealer about (shudder) bumper strips or some sort of protection. He told me about the clear coating they put over the bumper, but it runs $1,000+ with installation so that's not happening...
I park in a garage where the attendants should do 3-point turns and don't. After several mini-heart attacks I finally put a bumper strip on my Accord. It looks like crap but at least it prevented any further damage.
So what do I do to protect my rear bumper when I get my TL?
Does anyone know where I can get a bumper strip that matches Anthracite (or should I go with black?) that isn't too hideous? Any other ideas?

Buy a gun and shoot the attendants.
but seriously ...
Rub strips certainly would not heighten the TL appearance but neither does dings. I would move.

You can get the clear bra material also applied to the bumpers. Invisiguard in Northern California quoted me $150 for an 8"-10" strip around the rear bumper. There is no precut kit for the rear bumper. For the front bumper, get the standard kit.

The dealer quoted $1,000 w/installation for the rear. I'll have to clarify with him. I don't need anything for the front as I park head to the wall.Originally posted by lymster

Also I saw clear rubber bumper strips on a website that don't look too ugly.

The Slim Line Door Guards are available in clear, and look like they would work on the rear bumpers.

This website has bumper guards that have metallic strips in them, which looks ok.

Thanks for the links Narnia.
I had been trying to find some online and ran into the links you listed above. I wonder how the bumper guards with the metallic strips would look.
I also wonder if the slim door guads would be effective as bumperguards.
I came across a site which had a diiferent kind of clear bumper guards, check it out (its based in europe):
clear bumper guard
I will probably order the ones with the metallic strips in them, and the clear ones and see which ones look best.

Those look great! I just sent them an e-mail to see if they'll ship to the US. Thanks!

I dont think the clear bra or 3m film would prevent the kind of damage that's done to bumpers by other cars in NYC (mostly caused by the screws holding the other cars plates).
I see bumpers get not only scraped but dented everyday because of these very-low-speed impacts at parking garages and the street.
I can see the films working if they are very very thick, but who knows, maybe I'm wrong.

It's true. In NYC, you usually see ppl bump cars in the front or back to thrust and jostle bigger space, especially the streets parking. The stronger protection could be helpful...Originally posted by csrx

Well I dont offer the rear bumper in a pre-cut kit, but you can get bulk material and do it HERE
I would recommend seaming in the body lines so it doesnt stick out as much. Not like it would since it is clear anyways. You are looking probably at a piece 18 inch by 72 inches for $63.00. You could do it yourself or contact an associate of ours in NJ.
Let us know if we can help further
