Hey guys,
I normally don't ask much question. But I am planning on working a project. I have a 5AT, (you know how the shift knob and the whole boot section looks like) now, in the upper left corner. There's a hole in which you can put the key in and enable you to shift FROM park. Here is my question
Has anyone tried to take the entire plate out? CLICK HERE , IF SO how do I do it? There is no screws and in the manual, it doesn't tell you. I would like to change to a different plate. If any of you could help, I would reallly appreciate it. I"m working at it as we speak...
If I can manage to take that plate out, I'll post end results to what I'm doing
let's see some response, thanks!

soon, I'll order the 6MT shift knob and change it, to see if it suits me. Like to mess around, if I don't like it. I'll change everything back to normal haha.

There, I got bored so I took a look at my center shifter and decided to modify alittle. Well, here is the end result (I couldn't find a black color boot, so I bought my favorite color YELLOW ), I'll order the 6MT shift knob and replace the original black color knob to see how it turns out. Maybe if I don't like it, I'll change everything back
you guys like it ? or

haha, thanks for the comments folks. You're very polite in responding... I would imagine I'd get flamed for doing it. Well, as you can see in this POST #61 , all of the cars are MT. Just I couldn't wait for the 6MT back then and I don't regret it. I was at my local car store and they ran out of BLACK leather boot, so I went YELLOW instead. It's just a temp thing, I'll change it to black soon enough. (I used yellow since it's my favorite color )
I'll change to black soon enough.

boy, this black leather boot is a different brand and the leather is a lot thicker than the yellow shown in earlier posts. Took me about an hour to get it in! But see if it's better now (less shine )

scrb09. The black boot has one of the thickest leather I've ever seen. Took me more than an hour to install it, was such a pain in the ass. The leather texture on that yellow boot was like silk skin.. too bad they don't make black color boot. Anyway, I kinda like the black boot
My next project would be try to take the Cat off and see how loud my TL would be
Anyhow, thanks for polite comments folks.

Thats a really cool idea, make it look manual. If understand that that leather was probably a pain in the ass to work with but I would try to neaten it up at teh shifter. Looks like its held on with hair ties. Besides that looks really cool. I think I or my father would forget where everything was though.
Why do have that key hole. What good would it do you, couldnt you just put it in the ignition? Could someone please explain that?
