Re-Badging my TL
Heya Guys,
I've always de-badged the cars that I have owned. . .so. .. one of the first things I did to the TL while zainoing it was de-badge it.
Then I started driving around town - thinking - hell - if I owned a MBZ or the like - I wouldnt WANT to de-badge it - I would want eVERYONE knowing exactly which model I had chosen.
I want to do the same with my TL - I want everyone (even those who dont recognize the bodystyle) to know that this was a *TL* passing them by.
I carefully removed the old badges so they are all in one piece.
Any thoughts as to what kind of "glue" to use on these.

Any pics of it de-badged. I've been really close to wanting to de-badge my car, but like you, I've had the same thoughts cross my mind.

TL Mike, I would just go back to the dealer and re-buy any of the emblems that you want to replace. That way, you have the adhesive already on them, and you don't have to worry about trying to cut new adhesive to the correct shapes.

Thanks for all the tips guys - maybe I'll just leave it . . .but I was thinking. . .if I had a MBZ SL500 - I sure as hell wouldn't remove the badges - I'm damn proud of my TL - shouldn't I parade it around?
Any other opinions on the looks badged vs. de-badged?

I did the same thing, debadged, then changed my mind and put them back on. Luckily I had some Kent Industries body molding double-sided tape which I cut to fit and it worked perfectly.
If you go to a body shop and ask, they would probably give you enough tape for your badges without charge, or maybe a small fee. Doesn't take much, about 6" of 1/2 or 3/4" wide tape would give you plenty.

I debadged my TL after my buddy did it to his Scion...
I'm very glad I did it... It makes my TL look even cleaner and when you blow by the BMW's, the drivers are even more perplexed. OH... and don't forget to black out the license plate frame too. HA!

I did mine too.....yeah, if I had an SL500 I wouldn't touch it either. However, they are almost 3x's the cost of our cars, so you really can't compare. I see so many TL's now, that I want to do want I can to set mine apart. I would leave it alone, I think it looks cleaner.

TL- MIKE - My opinion is to not put the badge back on. It looks hella sick debadged. People who knows about cars will know that isn't anything else but a TL. TSX is WAY different. IT looks real clean as it is.
TSQUARE- Get a Hair blowdryer (REcommended) or heat gun and get floss. Loop the floss two times so the floss is much more stronger. Point the blowdryer at the emblems..heat it and use the floss to go behind the emblem to saw off the adhesives. It's pretty simple..just saw it up and down. After you get the emblem offf, there will be some sticky adhesives still stuck on the paint. All you need to do is get goo gone or rubbing alcohol and just use a towel and just rub it off. If that doesn't work, just heat it up again and take it off with your hands. After you get the adhesives off completely, I recommend you to finish off with just rubbing alcohol just for the hell of it. to make sure it's clean. Sometimes there will be shadows or "outlines" of the emblems still left on the paint. To my experience on a NBP (Black) RSX, over time, it will go away so it shouldn't be any worries to you or anyone.
Best of luck

Dontworry about people mistaking the car for something else...there are so many Tl that they already know what it is.
