A turbo TL seems very far-fetched (not saying its impossible, just I would never think to see it).

But no, an intake isn't bad at all. I only have that done so far, and no issues besides some hiss at low RPMs.

Perhaps he is talking about another model car? Or just asking general knowledge questions? Mio has been on here a LONG time so he isnt one to BS people. I dont think he was saying his TL is turbo'd though. Just making a statement if I know Mio.

lol... to answer the question!!!... if you put a turbo on a non turbo car, and it has the stock exhaust.... that is bad.... The turbo will suck in a TON more air than the exhaust was designed to handle, so it'll have way too much backpressure, which could damage the wastegate and valves.

Get the G. On those occasions when it snows here I leave the TL parked & use a 4X4 Pickup or SUV.

I think his friends own turbo cars explaining intake and exhaust to him on a turbo instead of an NA car. A turbo will gain more power with intake and exhaust since from the factory most systems are restrictive to keep engine noise and reach emissions. You have to keep in mind an engine is a giant air pump. A turbocharger just accelerates this process. You put a free'r flowing intake on the car you want it to flow out just as well or it will create a bottleneck. Technically you do not need to do the exhaust mod right away its just preference since some people like to do it at the same time. Just putting an intake on for now should be fine. You will notice a slight increase in engine noise and thats about it.

I thought Mio had a stock 3G TL. This was probably a question for Car Talk rather than 3G TL.

you know... those furry little things that crawl under your car at night to keep warm... a stock exhaust with a turbo is too hot for them... would singe their hairs and "ruin the cats".

lol.....devil!!
intake is usually saved for last in high performance practices.to the OP but a majority of us love to do it first becaue its cheapest and sounds lovely with vtec....wanna do it correctly with the right amount of A/F ratio??? get the precat deletes and intake and exhaust all in one shot..... the car will breathe nicer and last a lot longer because there no restrictions anywhere and its running rich the way its intended to run. My car was running on the boarder of lean n rich and I kept throwing CEL's and couldnt figure it out....finally i got the precat deletes and the car adjusted the A/F ratio accordingly and now its unreal.

I wonder if that's what my car's problem is... every now and then when I mash the motor ( you like that hillbilly slang?), I'll get a CEL flashing for a while. Checked it out, and it was saying something like random cylinder misfires.

well this was my prob.... I did all my intake mods before any of my exhaust mods then i slacked and realized there was way more to this than a cat or sensor sooooo I sat there rolling around for a few days with my modis in the car recording info as I drove for hours and miles.... i cross referenced everything with some specs from the acura manual and it just seemed like some parts just dont mesh well if the car doesnt have a balance of intake n exhaust parts (obviously!!!) So finally the balance was the precat deletes for my setup to compliment what honda has setup in the computers for limitations and diviations to be allowed.
