quick question

alright, im coming from a 2k2 tl-s and were picking up a black/black 06 navi 6 speed tonight.

anyway, salesman called saying he recomends purchasing a navigation system warrentee? for 2000 more, now i see this as a load of bullshit, navigation = stereo and the stereo is covered by the 3/36k warrentee so wtf is this?

anyone?

Thanks,
Chris

Everything is covered for 4 years/50,000 miles, and you can buy the extended warranty for up to 7 years/100,000 miles or something like that for about $1200, with no deductible if you get it within so many months/miles of purchase, so wtf is he trying to sell you?

Just say "NO!" I have no idea what he's trying to sell you and it sounds like a crock of s*#t. That's gotta be a first; Navigation System Warranty. Yea, right!.

2K? If it really breaks down, I would pay it or try to get a new car.

Ron's dead on, as always. This is just a ploy to get $2k out of you for nothing.

If you really think you want the extended warranty, don't pay $1500 -- that's list or just below. You can get them down to $1000 or better if you try. Just keep saying "No." I couldn't get him lower than a grand.

(Yeah, I bought it. Call me a fool, but I do at least 20K miles/year, so for $1000, financed over 5 years after 10K down, I went for it. I'll run out the basic warranty before paying the thing off, and I keep cars a long time. Usually.)

A navi warranty for 2K! Those are the tactics that really sour me to some dealers and models. If you really think you need an extended warranty, then buy one. It just adds to the price of the car. I know those out there that say you do, are fearful of something breaking and paying 90/hr labor rates. Truth is these things are money makers. It adds an additional 2000 to the cost of the car.

My advice is to sell the car before the 50K warranty is up. No extra money and you stay in a newer car bracket. A performance oriented car are not usually the ones you hear about being driven 120 miles a day and getting over 150,000 trouble free miles. brakes and tires do not last as long and you might expect to get a damaged tire here or there from potholes (especially in the northeast).

Don't get extended warranty from dealers, you can get them online much cheaper. I paid $200 for the extended warranty on my CRV. The dealer wanted $1200....

I just bought my TL, and got the extended warranty for $1295. Up to 100,000K miles, and since it's used, I already have 25K on it, so I don't have to worry about my warranty being half used already...well it's certified so it goes to 62K so almost half used. Oh well...I'll feel better when I hit 62K miles, that's for sure.
