Question regarding reupholstery

Hey everyone. My front two Quartz leather seats are shot and I'm wanting to get them reupholstered. I've been looking around the forum and I wasn't able to find the answer to my question (unless I missed it - correct me if I'm wrong). If I don't replace the seats with perforated leather (with the holes for those who don't know), would it affect anything in terms of the seat warmers? A couple places I went to said I needed them, but I've seen other cars with heated seats that don't have perforation. If anyone has an answer or any links please let me know. Thanks.

You'll have no problems with the heaters if the seats don't have the perforations. Most factory leather seats don't have them and you can also have heaters with cloth interior.

No, you don't need perforated seats. Frankly, any shop that says so I would give them an awkward look and run away from them. Fast.

Thanks for the responses. It didn't make sense to me but I just wanted to check and make sure. Never hurts to have things clarified. And yes that's the true even the new WRX has heated suede seats.

I think it would only matter for ventilated seats (where the cool air comes up through the perforations). This sounds interesting (the solid/ non perforated leather). Please post pics after it's all done. My old 00TL had non perforated leather, and the heaters worked fine.

An arm and a leg if you do genuine leather. I was quoted 600 parts and labor for vinyl, but I'm gonna try talk him down to 500. The shop I've taken them to has had very good reviews from various body shops and customer, some of which being related to me. He's done alot of too notch luxury vehicles with the same type of leather and they come out just fine, the material is nice and soft, yet strong. Feels the same, just that you won't get that genuine leather scent, but who cares

Just remember, vinyl may be less expensive, but you'll find it hotter and stickier in summer, colder in winter, punctures easier, and not as soft as leather.
