question bout tl-s
question bout tl-s
just wondering guys if its really worth it. just got my first tl (dgp) bout less than a month ago. and was thinking about trading it in for a tl-s.
just wondering if you guys think its worth it to do the whole wheeling and dealing again and bringing the car to my mechanic. not a big deal but time consuming.
was looking at a:
1)07 wdp (tan)$24.8k 41k miles
2)07 nbp (black)$26.9k 45k miles
3)07 nbp (black)$25.9k 41kmiles
and i dont have any mods on the dgp except for a front lip which i havent even installed yet.

ask yourself why you would want this trade. then ask yourself if its worth it. test drive a Type-S and see for yourself. i wouldnt make a major financial decision such as this based on other peoples' opinions.
you can probably compare the differences and see if its worth it.
1- engine (3.2 VS 3.5)
2- interior lighting (blue VS red)
3- different rims, bumper, quad exhaust, different taillights
theres more but you get the point. honestly, every mod can be done besides the engine displacement. and even that has been done now so...

I definitely think its worth it for the TL-S!
It's personal preference... But for the subtle visual differences, the increased power, and the fact that they're not as common... its worth the little extra wheeling and dealing to get it!

when i was in the market for my TL i knew that if i didnt get the Type-S the first time id regret it. im glad i went with a Type-S. we had a base loaner for a couple of warranty jobs and we couldnt wait to get back into our Type-S.

The opinions in this thread are going to be majorly biased that there is actually no point of this thread. The best answer is for you to decide, since its a personal financial decision. People who have Type S or who don't are going to vote in their favor because this is natural human behavior, validates their purchase and choice, but doesn't mean a thing to you.
And just to clarify, I do not have a TYPE S, my SN is from when I owned 2nd gen TLS .. never changed the name.

as for the trade in value of my tl now. i havent checked yet.
Your car has now dropped in value by $1000 when you drove off the lot, another 1000 because you want to trade it back in, and 1000 for the miles you did put on it
Salesmen are full of $)^$# and looking to make the most commission on each deal- they have children to feed!
Sales MANAGER makes all price decisions and thats who you deal with directly
Call your insurance and ask the rate differance between the cars- Type S will cost more for sure
If money is of no concern, drive to the dealer and get what you really want

Is it worth it now?
Those are a LOT of miles on all the TL-S's you mentioned. And the prices are high to. There are several in the Chicago area here with less than half the miles you have listed for almost the same prices.
As far as if its worth as others said thats up to you. For me it wasnt a big deal as the 30hp difference is nothing between the S and non S. My other car has over 430HP so even the TL-S feels slow.
The TL-S is sweet for sure though and obviously much more rare but the average person has no idea about the type S.
