Lightbulb Question to ALL CANADIAN TL'S OWNERS???

I have a friend that is planning to trade in his 1996 BMW 3series to purchase the TL. THanks to me he loves the car however he wants to know how you all financed your car. Whether to go thru Acura at 6.1% interest rate or thru the banks rate??? THis way he would know whether to take up the deal at Acura's rate or w/a bank. He thinks the 6.1% rate is high at Acura. THanks for all your help eh!!!

Can't help. I'm on a lease.

But really... if he's borrowing money to buy the TL, just get the best rate. If a bank says yes and it's lower than Acura's rate.... why not? Just tell him to do his homework.

If you had a decent mortgage broker at your FI they would have got you a secured line of credit like acuraforsure did. Most secure lines are prime minus a few points. If they want an unsecured line of credit they can try ING Direct.

Can't help on the rates though, I paid cash.

I don't know why our rates in Canada Acura is so high compare to our competitors such as Infiniti/Audi at 2.9%/BMW at 3.9%. The salesman says "Acura has no problem selling the cars and other brands do so they would lower the rates to attract buyers". That is true in some way however why would Acura/Honda lose another part of the business to the bankers? While Acura can make an extra $2000-4000 extra thru client financing. I think Acura should make their rates more competitive and my friend says the salesman cannot budge with the rates. Is that true?? Has anyone had their rates negotiated? Thanks Canadian TL'rs!!

This is exactly why Acura lost me to a 330i listed at 57 K...I got the 330i for the same price as the 41 K TL....3 yr prepaid lease.

That is the same reason why my friend is getting pissed off! They cannot budge on the interest and can for the car. Kinda of rediculas I think!! Acura can make profit from selling the car and interest earned from financing. I guess they think differently. Well I think my buddy will try the banks and see what rates he can get. Audi at 2.9 and BMW at 3.9 sounds temping tho!!
