Question about A-Spec, Type S, bumper, lip, etc!

Greetings from a newb. I just picked up an '06 Base TL 6MT with Navi and under just 20k miles. I'm completely new to the TL world, and I'm trying to figure out the lingo. Can anyone explain these various kits (A-Spec, Type S, etc) or at least just tell me what the heck I've got on my car? Loving it so far!! I was previously driving an '03 Elantra. Only nice car I've had before was a '91 Galant VR4.

You have the A-Spec lip kit.

Looks like the previous owner was a TL enthusiast.

It's even debadged lol.

Body side moldings ftl, though.

Thanks for the help! Yeah the PO had the car tinted which I didn't even realize when I picked it up in the dark. That was a pleasant surprise to realize a few days later! I did the debadging myself the day after purchase. On that note, do the moldings come off and clean up like the badges did? I noticed a lot of dirt come out from behind the moldings when I washed it. For the badges I used a heat gun, dental floss, patience, Goo Gone, patience, Meguiar's, and patience. Same routine for the moldings?

Yup, the body side moldings are as easy to take off =)

  1. its raining or
  2. I'm picking up the XLR8 exhaust from a local member

Well, tomorrow after work its option #2. So excited for the exhaust, this car is way too quiet for me for a manual car.

The BSM's will have to wait.

Haha thanks. I'm thankful for my buddy who has a lift in his garage!

I shaved the BSMs today and it looks sooooooo much better.

Man the exhaust was real easy. Nothing like the satisfaction of doing the work yourself.

At 8:40pm I had it up on the lift and I hadn't touched anything yet. At 9:37pm I texted my buddy that I was done and the garage was closed up.

IMO an impact wrench is crucial to get those crusty cat nuts off, and it would have been a real b*tch to do on the ground so a lift is really nice.

On the other hand I was working completely alone which made it tricky when it came time to drop the stock exhaust out!

Where can i get the best deal on the front lip spoiler? i think i seen one at delrayacura for $300.00 painted? is that good? Also how do you post up pics?

I'm not sure on just the front lip spoiler (I think you're talking about the A-Spec lip kit) but there is a thread on here for the whole kit for $775 I believe. And yes it comes painted.

To post pics I'm having to put them on Facebook and then just copy/paste the image URL. But if you're a Registered Member you should be able to put photos up in the gallery.

Here you go, talk to Ack he just posted up in this thread here:
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/yes-another-lipkit-question-798791/

saying that he can get the individual parts of the kit, or the whole thing!

Can u give more pics (before and after) of what part of the side moldings you shaved off?

Why does everyone not like the aspec side moldings? Just wondering...

look at his original pictures. the bsm's (body side moldings) are used to protect the car from door dings. most people take them off bc they mess up the flow lines on the car (the design of the car)...and i agree. the car looks so much better without them on.

I get it now. I thought he saved off part of the aspec side skirts. Guess I am lucky, my car doesn't have the bsms.

Yep you got it. I think the BSMs might look OK without the A-Spec kit. But with the lip kit, the BSM just make the side of the car look too "busy" for my liking!
