Question about B1 service
So this past Thursday(9/1) my MID informed me the B1 service was due soon.
I needed an Oil Change because was at 10% and going to Kalamazoo, MI on Saturday.
My car has roughly 9500 miles on it. I have read that some people rotate their tires every 5,000 miles.
My question is should I get the B1 service, mainly the tire rotation? I am late in getting my tires rotated? Or am I fine?
I have an 05 AT TL with A-Spec Yoko's AVS ES 100's. Tirewear looks OK. I had some friends look at the tires and nothing stood out to them. Aside from my tire pressure being "adjusted" improperly after the oil change, everything has been fine with the tires. The car tracks pretty straight. Its drifts ever so slightly to the right.

The service reminders are not based on the oil changes.
If you go to reset the MID before you get a service reminder, and one is due, you will get a service reminder message if anything is due.
To see how to correctly reset the MID, and an explanation of the service reminder popup, check out this thread.

i dont know if it is. Maybe it knows that you have reset the MID 3 times so it knows what to give you next. Or it might keep in mind how many miles the car has. But i do know that the % shown is reduced by the way you drive not miles. So keeping that in mind i go more towards the MID telling you what service you need taking in counts of MID resets you've done.
hope i didnt confuse you guys more. lol. But i have 32,010 miles and my B1 service due soon light came on. You only have 9,500 miles on yours. So basically after B1 it goes back to A1, then B1 then A1,, i guess untill and if you keep your car that long it will prompt you for other major checkups.
well there you go..Ron just HELPED OUT A BUNCH..

I tend to go with every 5K myself and have never had an issue with uneven tire wear. My local Discount Tire shop recommends 5-6K with their free balance / lifetime rotation policy.
As with many automotive Mx issues, tire wear and rotation needs revolve around individual driving styles/conditions..

My two cents worth
I have always been on the 10,000 mi. bandwagon for tire rotation. So whe the first service was due ( according to mid ) , I was at 7735 miles. I rotated them then. Now at the second due service... 15280. I didn't bother. I keep a close eye on the tire wear, as I do with the rest of the vehicle. If you're wondering about the only second due service at such high mileage... It's alll highway. I'm curious to know if anyone can change their oil filter without removing the front right tire.

Does anyone actually do a full B1 service at the dealer? How hard is it to rotate the tires yourself? The dealer charges like $70-80 for that.
Anyway, I manually rotated my OEM EL-42 tires twice in 30,000 miles (about every 15000 miles or every second oil change). I finally replaced them at about 32,000 miles and they still had 1/32" left. There was no uneven treadwear or any other issues with them.
But I drive my car on the freeway 99% of the time and I always keep the tire pressure at about 40psi so my situation may not be applicable.

Can you have problems if you rotate the tires too often? I've been rotating my tires at 5000miles as the tire dealer suggested. Any comments on frequent rotation would be appreciated.

You're just doing a better job of equalizing wear between drive/turning wheels and the other two etc. Is it completely necessary for all of us? No, but either way whether you're driving all highway or city, like a grandma or rice-racer its a fact that the front tires will wear faster given that is where the power meets the road.
Now, some may say rotating to often will just place more wear and tear on the studs/lugnuts..... Theoretically true, yet if you're/they are torquing them properly any additional use/wear is negligible.
For Vroooom04TL / Slava:
--I purchased my 04TL in Dec 2004 and it's never been to the dealer or any other shop for it's service. I perform all oil changes, tire rotations, trans service, filters, belts, inspections etc. myself. The only time my vehicles see a dealer is for warranty work(most of that I do myself too..)- anything else is a waste of my hard earned money/time. Then again, I still enjoy working on vehicles not to mention have $12K of Snap-On tools in the garage looking for action...
And yes, you can very easily change the oil filter without removing the right hand front tire/wheel. I just use a set of Rhino ramps and drain pan.
Cheers
