Wow, great post. Very detailed.

Are there really any cars that cannot get the keys stuck inside.

This thread does not seem to be revolutionary.

Is this a trick question? Are the keys in the ignition? Did you drop your keys on the floor and then use the lock button or knobs to lock the doors? Did you lock the doors with the key fob and then accidentally throw the key fob through the open sunroof? Does it say somewhere that you cannot lock yourself out of a TL?

Yes! The only way you can lock yourself out is if you lock the car with your FOB and then opened the boot and leave you keys inside the boot and closed the trunk.

There is another way. If you left the car with a valet, or you didn't have your key fob with you and were using an extra key, and left it in the car (not in the ignition, but lying on the seat or floor where you accidentally dropped it) and used the switch or knobs to lock the car, you could lock yourself out. Your puzzle assumes everyone is using the keyfob all of the time, but there are valid reasons for not having or using the key fob.

Well! In this case, if you shut the door the driver side lock pops back up. (Or Am I wrong? I'll try this again).

Wrong! If you've had other hondas you know you can trick the locking mechanism by pulling on the door lever and pushing the lock at the same time. People dont do that in the TL because the lock and the lever are in different places, in a lot of hondas the lock button and door lever are next to each other. In the TL You can do it with your elbow.

Actually, on all Hondas this also works by pulling on the door handle and using the lock button, instead of pushing down on the lock pin.

And, yes, same thing worked on ANY Integra despite what another poster said.

okay but this is the extra effort you'll have to do to lock yourself out. Acura / Honda have designed a way that you would not get yourself locked out easily. But leaving the keys in the trunk to get some stuff out is obvious and you can get yourself locked out.

Newsflash. They have removed the "pull the door handle and press the lock switch" thing on this TL. If you press the master door lock switch next to the handle (without pressing or pulling anything else) on either the driver’s door or the passenger’s door, all doors will lock and stay locked even after you close the door. If you press the lock tab on the top by the window on the driver’s door, all doors will lock, but if you press this tab on the passenger’s door, only that door will lock.

The real questions is:

"Can you lock yourself IN"?

answer - YES

keys in trunk

if Honda had invested a couple more dollars in the key fob, it would auto-UNLOCK like VW/Audi.

1. Saying you first lock your trunk-opening-button from your glovebox, and lock the glovebox and ski-through-in, then throw your two master keys into the trunk. This is the good way.

2. How's about throwing your three keys into the car inside?

As long as your key is not in the ignition, you can lock your car. However, only #1 has no way to drive your car even though you have locksmith or towed workers to open for you.

Could you not lock the doors, then throw the keys in the hatch and close it?

I was talking about locking out by mistake and not a purposeful. The TL does not unlock the door as Integra did.

I didn't get the "lock yourself out?" puzzle answer correct, but I locked myself in once. I was sitting in the back seat with my two year old waiting for the 5 year old to get out of kindergarten. We were doing McDonald french fries and I forgot that the child door locks were set on both back doors. Luckily, no one saw me climbing through the narrow console opening into the front seat to reach the front door handle. It was either that or squeezing through the back seat into the trunk and getting out that way.
