Purchasing TL: '04 or '05?
Hey everyone,
I'm practically new at this forum, but I do own a relative car with a 2001 Honda Accord V6. Well, I'm here to ask you guys a question. It's time for my younger brother to get a new car. As of now we're going to purchase the Acura TL with navigation (5AT) The price that I have been quoted by dealers is around $33,500 (Southern California). First of all, I'm wondering if this is a good price. I mean, theres only a couple of '04 TL's left, and the '05's are coming in about 2-3 weeks. The question is, should I wait for a '05 or will the '04 price be cheaper. Will they knock off the price on the '05's? Also, I'm pretty sure the resale vaule of an '05 will be higher than an '04 by about roughly $1000. So, if the price difference is less than $1000 between the two cars, shouldn't I purchse the '05? Please help people, we're intending on buying the car today.
Much Thanks,
Daniel

I am in the same dilemma, except that I currently own a '99 TL. I ordered a '05 and would probably recommend the same to you due to some "first year" issues the '04s had. Hopefull they are corrected in '05. Moreover, the Acura dealer I deal with does not discount anything, so why should a buy a year old car. Hopefully this helps....

If you are looking for a great buying experience you should use Falconi's Acura in Las Vegas, NV. Talk to Louie Doblado. I've bought several vehicles there and they may not discount prices but the experience is second to none. People fly in there from all over just buy a car there. Louie really goes the extra mile to take care of you.

If you pick up an 04, from what I hear it is essentially the same car as the 05. I just got my 04 two weeks ago and was told it was one of the last of the 04 production. I understand there were some issues with the first 30k cars that came off the line, but if you are getting one of the late 04 models you should not have a problem with an percieved new production issues.
There are people that try to sell their used 04 now for more than you can pick up a brand new one; from a financial perspective it seems like a solid decision. to go with an 04 if you can find one. I actually got mine below invoice - sounds bizzarre but they still make money!
(At least I hope!) Good luck!

Well, got the 04 TL today. Researched around and got one for 33.6k pretax for Navi, Mud,Locks,Tray at South Coast Acura. It is Anthracite and Ebony. Man, I wish I lived in NY to get such a good deal as you guys. I have NEVER to this day heard of an Acura selling at Invoice in So Cal. Anway, yeah it was one of the last TL's produced, it actually had 3 miles on the ODO. BTW, I have an Accord V6, and I know for the 2nd generation TL's that the aftermarket parts for the 2 cars are universal (almost all parts) Well, I have some eibach springs, tokico illuminas and I was wondering if I could put these on his car, also some of the comptech sways. Thanks
