problems w/ debaging

so i cleaned my car today, and it was pretty hot so i also decided in debadging my car after the was.

i used the hair dryer and floss method which worked very well but i had some adhesive left on the car. I bought some goo gone and scrubbed the hell out of it but some were still left.

I read about using brake cleaner but i feel i already messed it up and didnt wanna use another chemical that might cause paint job problems.

So this is how it looks now.

try heating it up again, apply a bit more goo-gone, then go at it w/your fingernails. Careful though, cus if you do it at too sharp an angle you risk abrading the paint (you can feel it when your nails are "scraping" at the paint anyways). Worked for me.

definitely DONT use your nails. it will scratch the clearcoat, it can even take a chunk of it off. let the goo gone sit on it for like 15 seconds then wipe it off

the marks are from oxydation... if you cant get it on your own, then the dealership will have "adhesive remover"(?)

Thats nothin! Just spray the goo gone all over it and let it sit for a few. I stick a rag underneath the area where I am applying the goo gone so it doesn't drip down. After you let it sit for a minute, wipe it off. Tada, done!

Its doable dude, it takes patience and alot of goo gone. When I did this I spent well over an hour just getting the adhesive off. Just keep at it.

P.S. I used almost boiling water.

Bug and Tar remover works wonders. I had the same problem but then I used the bug and tar remover, let it sit...then use some elbow grease. It'll take it right off. I tried and tried with the goo gone, but it didn't do it.

Yea, if you scratch at it and you have whore claws. Your nails are perfect for getting under the stuff, and soft enough that they won't do any harm to the paint. You don't have to go at it like you're scraping them on a chalkboard...

i agree. I say claybar it. And while you're at it, you can also claybar the rest of the car

I have used WD 40 in the past to safely remove adhesive.

clay wont work

...try a mildly abrasive polish like scratchx or optimum polish and work it on the area until the adhesive is gone

like others have mentioned, WD-40 and a heat gun/hair dryer. It took awhile, but it worked.
