Problem Closing Hood

Just picked up my WDP/Parchment on Friday from Hillside Acura in Bay Shore, NY. Anybody else having a tough time closing the hood. I opened mine up to admire the engine block and had a hell of a time trying to close it. The manual says to firmly push down the hood but I don't think it should take that amout of force to close the hood. Anybody else experiencing that problem?

lol that really sucks for you...

This happened on my parents camry. Try lifting the hood about 6 inches above the closing and just let it drop. If that doesnt help, then check if there is anything around the hood thats preventing it from closing properly. If you cant figure out hte problem, take it back to the dealership, and remeber to drive slowly, you dont want it to fly up while driving

Actually I did get it to close but the with an inordinate amount of force mind you. I wonder if it's misaligned or something. I remember when I got my Accord back in 94 I had to bring it back to the dealer because the trunk was misaligned and had problems shutting.

I'll take it back to the dealer and hope it's a minor problem.

I have to slam my hood to close it. Letting it drop from 6 inches won't close it.

Right, the dealer could help you to adjust it.

Many of early built 04TLs have the similar problem to close their hood effortlessly. Without dropping it from two feet high, it's hard to close it. Including myself and 4 other friends, after visiting the dealers, 3 of 5 04TLs can easily close hood with less than a foot drop, mine is unable to fix after two visits. I'm in bad luck... :o

I did try 4 other 04TLs (manufactured after Dec.), I'm able to close thier hoods gently... I guess Acura has made this adjustment into their production lines half years ago, applying to most of later built 04TLs.

Sorry to know your car having this issue and hope your dealer could adjust it with minutes.

I've got the same problem. I have to slam the hood to close it. It doesn't seem to hurt anything, but it is anoying to say the least. Not what you would expect from a car in this class. I think it's something that could be easily adjusted, but it's not something that bothers me that much since I hardly ever open the hood. I wouldn't sweat it unless it was damaging or bending the hood from the force required to close it.

There was a problem with early builds doing this, then they corrected it in production, looks like a new person is doing the alignment again, and they are out of wack. I had mine adjusted by the dealer, now it closes very easily, you may have to twist some arms to get them to do it, but it is worth it, if you drop from too high up, the hood can bend/crease (I have seen it happen).

well with the one that i just got, when i was checking out the engine before my parents bought the car, the sales person came running to make sure i didnt close it right, and he had to let it fall from about 2 feet. I dont know if i would call myself unlucky only because wether i have to drop it at 2 feet or 5 feet, whatever it takes to get it closed as long as it is made to withstand the drop is fine by me

Yup, just drop that mofo from about 18-24" and it shuts fine. Yes it's a little loud but it won't hurt anything.
