Question Price Check

Recently I received a price quote of $34,295 for a 04TL, auto w/navi, which is not great but not bad either. The salesperson further indicated that the total take home price would be $37,900. So this is a nearly $3,600 difference. I'm trying to determine if there were hidden fees applied. Other than a destination charge, sales tax and the DMV registration fee (2% at the time), are there other fees involved? I'm not financing with the dealer. Maybe I'm wrong but it doesn't seem that these fees should total $3,600.

What do you think? Is this a good deal?

That sounds about right. Remember vehicle license fee went up 200% in October. The fee was $750 on my 04 TL. My friends Dodge 1500 truck went to $1000 and a co-workers Yukon SUV went to almost $1500.

$34295
$45 - Doc fees
$222.92 - License (after 11/17/03) 0.65%
$2881.32 Tax - probabaly 8.25%

$37444.38 Total

Before 11/17/03 license fee (2.0 %) would have been $685.90 for a total of $37,907.82

Sounds about right to me, but now you would save $468 on the license.

Please share with us the dealer that is giving you essentially $900 off of MSRP. We are all interested in getting a similar deal. Did the dealer include any accessories such as mud guards and wheel locks?

8.25% tax?!? Wow. The tax on my TL was 2.3%. Of course, our tax rate probably helps explain why our schools our 49th in the nation.

Sales tax is 8.0% here in Cuyahoga County (Cleveland area), OH. Our Ohio legislature increased the state sales tax by 1% this summer. Made my TL more expensive Luckily, our license fees are dirt cheep ($45 a year for each passenger car or truck). In fact, I had my plates switched from my old car to the new for $8 or so. Y'all in Cali have it bad even after Ahhhnold repeals the tripled license fee.

Lucky you. We pay 15% on everything. I feel like throwing up.

I would not drive a new car without it. This is my fourth car to have it. They switched to a more durable material. It's 12mm thick, not including the adhesive. 3M has a product that they claim to be 8MM thick but that includes 2MM for the adhesive. They had some samples of the 3M stuff. You can take a piece in your two hands and literally pull it apart. They also had me try to poke my keys thru a larger piece while they were holding it; poked right thru. Their material on the other hand, I could not tear it apart with my bare hands nor could I poke my keys thru it.

Do you have a website I can go to? I am not sure who here in alabama might install it. The dealer gave me a regular bra but I haven't put it on yet.

For those in Cali,

The terminator should help reduce the cost of the license fee.
That is crazy!!!
