Pressure switches

So I replaced my 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches last weekend. After driving the car for a week, I don't feel like it shifts any different. It's no smoother and is still clunky. I'm wondering if my original switches weren't going bad. I have an 07 with 71,xxx miles.

did you change your ATF too? that generally will have a more profound effect than the switches.

You need to replace Honda with Toyota to feel the difference.

My torque converter was replaced about 10,000 miles ago and they flushed the system when they did that. Maybe I should have it drained and refilled again.

I did fluid first and it improved, then switches and it felt like new. Check your fluid, if it was done recently, try draining a few qts and refilling to get more old fluid out. Past that you might just have some wear. Are you the original owner/how hard was the car driven the last 70K?

I'm the second owner. Bought it with 50k. First owner was a middle aged lady. She traded it on an Infiniti.

I have 2008 TL with 73K miles on it now and I didn't feel any difference after first drain and refill but I did notice a difference after second to the point that I do not feel the need to replace switches. It is Honda after all according to many members of this board they are known for hard shifts.

So my point is do not expect more than this cat is capable of.

At about 50k miles on my 07 I first did a 1x3, which didn't really seem to make much difference in shift feel. Then about 2 weeks later I had the 3rd & 4th gear pressure switches replaced. Before the switch replacement the 4-3 and 3-2 downshifts were kinda slow and harsh with the engine braking effect. With the new switches those downshifts were much quicker and much less harsh.

I guess if anything it's piece of mind. I know Hondas are known for clunky transmissions. I had an 89 accord that would shift so hard I thought the tranny was going to fall right out. But it's kind of annoying in a luxury car.
