Premium Fuel vs. Regular Fuel?

Hey Peeps,

Due to the excessive rise in fuel costs, i'm curious to know if a 2005 Acura TL would REQUIRE premium fuel or is it simply RECOMMENDED? I'd check the manual but I bought mine used and it seems to be missing.

Tks

Um, read the label on your gas cap =)

It'll say something like "Premium only".

We all feel your pain.

You will NOT save money using regular. Your gas mileage will suffer.

I think I remember reading that you'll be spending more money at the pump using anything less than premium, your gas mileage will go down quite a bit

what about engine knocking?

or guess what if something happens to your engine/drivetrain

they COULD say well since you put reg gas in it its your fault so no warrente for you(even if its not to blame)

or you could spend the extra money on premium

It's not the extra 15 or 20 cents per gallon for 91 that's the problem...it's the first $4.25 per gallon that stings. Mileage suffers with lower octane so you really aren't saving as much as you think you are. 20 extra cents per gallon for a 12,000 mile year @ 25mpg is a whopping extra 96 bucks per year. Surely you can afford an extra $8 a month.

I do 8K mile a year and I do average >=25mpg. 93 is only 20 cents more per gallon than 87 in my market (91 is hardly available). 5 to 6 bucks more a month is hardly worth getting upset about.

Not to sound like a geezer but going 60-65mph on the highway will make a huge difference. I did that last week, instead of the usual 80mph, and was up to 29mpg from 25mpg.

Adobeman: Not to mention the fact that the reduced fuel economy you get on regular pretty much cancels out any "savings".

OP: Just put premium in. This topic has been covered literally dozens of times.

More posts on this than I care to remember. They all end up pretty much the same.
