Pre-Delivery Inspection?

I got a call from the Acura dealer today and he told me the sales rep (who doesnt work there anymore) forgot to have the car go through a Pre-delivery inspection. Will having a CAI cause a problem here? I know it has been debated whether or not it will void my engine warranty. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Well the car shouldnt leave the dealership without going through a pdi inspection for safety purposes. They check things such as fluid levels, tire pressure, lug nut torque, and an all around inspection of the vehicle. Your CAI shouldnt cause any problems at the dealership, it all depends on how the dealership is some care some dont!

The CAI won't void any warranty UNLESS the dealer can prove that the CAI was the cause of the failure. If you haven't had any failures, there is no warranty issue to worry about.

I would be more worried that Acuras are shipped to the dealer with a fuse missing from the fuse box which is typically installed during the PDI.

PDI is basically a technician going through the car making sure all fluids are at the proper levels as well as tire pressures being adjusted down to drivable levels (they are shipped with roughly 45psi in the tires to prevent flat spotting). Then taking the car on a minimum of a 10 mile road test to check for noises/ vibrations/ allignment issues.

I would check the car out yourself and ask them for some free oil changes as compensation.

while bl is right on most of that- I never took any new cars on a test drive more than around the block if at all- sales likes the miles low.
PDI is safety inspection to CYA on the dealers and Acuras part

Machines and humans fail when putting things made by the lowest bidder together, at a high rate of speed...

Take it in
The dealer will not say anything but- nice intake!- did you buy that at our parts counter?- you know we sell headers too!

You will be okay. Just take it in and have the PDI done so the dealer does not find a reason to try and hassle you regarding future warranty claims (if any) saying it might have been found during the PDI. It's highly unlikely, but possible.

Can I ask you why you didn't take your new car on an extended test drive? You're buying the car, not the sales people. I've been lucky with my new cars, Audi and Acura....none had any pre-delivery problems....also nothing showed up later...even rattles have been almost non existant. I think Acura generally builds a pretty good car...much better than the Audi I owned.

^^ I think he meant when he *did* the PDI, not as a consumer.
