Powdercoating

I'm trying to powder coat the motor for my 3G TL. I want to paint match it to the body of the vehicle (Desert Mist Mettalic), but I can't find any colors that match up close enough. Has anyone done this before that can lead me in the right direction or does anyone know of any close colors or can I use this and accomplish the same thing?

If having it done by a professional they should be able to find a close match. If it were me i would paint it myself. there are plenty of high heat aerosols that will do the job. 90% of doing it correctly is prep work. Search custom powder coat colors and engine paint colors.

have you considered having it professionally powercoated? i know a really great place in central florida that does amazing work. i'm sure where ever you live has a great powercoating pro in the region. are you anticipating some serious downtime while you coat?

the motor? as in the short block? or the heads? or the intake?

You do realize to powder coat everything has to be taken to bare metal and heated to a high temp, correct?

powderbuythepound.com

That's where I found the color I redid my A-Specs with. There are TONS of colors and finishes to look through.

Columbiacoatings has tons of high quality powders. It's where I buy all my powders from.

For most powders you need to bake them in the oven at approximately 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes once the powder "flows"

Bwahahahahahahaha...........

A. I am having it professionally done
B. I am anticipating downtime, My car is presently in the shop for a motor rebuild
C. I have been to columbiacoatings.com, so I guess I'll rephrase my question...

I have a desert mist metallic car. I just wanted to know which color would closely match that....I wanted to paint the motor the color of the body of car, and the red color of the tail lights....Which parts of the motor are irrelevant.
