Hey guys so I purchased a 07 acura tl type s a few months ago any how it came with the aspec kit all around except the front bumper lip which was stolen according to the seller long story short I finally purchased the front aspec lip and I'm looking to install ASAP anyway something weird I noticed was that my front bumper doesn't say acura like some type s should I be worried?

 

It should have ACURA engraved on the front center.

Fml.......I know it's not a clone because of car title and it has every option the type s has but I just noticed the front bumper today........fml no wonder my tow hook doesn't want to go in last time I checked errrrrrr

 

From what I've read on here is that aftermarket bumpers do not have acura engraved on the bumpers. That would also explain why your tow hook will not go In.

 

Damn,now I haven't installed my lip kit I hope it doesn't give me any Effin problems smh and hopefully it lines up properly if not what do you guys suggest remove this and buy a oem bumper or just try to modify it to fit ? And no wonder my tow hook hole doesn't quite line up and I can't get the tow hook in because the bumper is slightly off near the hole but lines up every where else sigh........thanks so far for your input guys

yup, the insurance company that fixed that car took the cheap way and ordered an aftermarket front bumper.


the OEM bumper is $250 from the dealership, you will then have to get it painted.
IMHO, its a waste of money to switch the front end when yours works perfectly fine, albeit a slight miss with the tow-hook hole


if the insurance company decided to do this, i would give the car a look over and see what else the car does or doesnt have

 

Did you at least check the carfax for any accidents? I know everything doesnt show up but its worth a look. Could've used it to negotiate the price...

 

Btw, that bumper is a BASE bumper....uuugh damn insurance companies. ..

Yeah as mentioned you have a base bumper (and aftermarket)on your Type S. It was probably replaced due to an accident and the insurance company and shop that did the work basically gave two shits about using the correct parts. Sorry man.

 

Lets swap lol,bumpers well yeah guys i actually did do a car fax and nothing turned up it was clean my guess maybe it was in a slight accident, was never reported and the owner took the cheap way out, now I hope the installation of the aspec kit doesnt give me a problem, and I guess you guys are right at this point doesn't make since to change the bumper simply cause it doesnt say acura, I can also shave a lil around the area where the tow hook enters to put a license plate relocate to somehow protect the front bumper, I know some guys here are not fans but when I purchased this car the front bumper was clean now it has light stretch marks and scratches from parking errrrr, my in-experience got the best of me

 

it is an indication that car was in an accident before and the front bumper was replaced with after market.

if acura isnt engraved into the front of it then its not oem and its aftermarket

 

reason that shops use the base bumper is I dont think theres an aftermarket type S one, or at least i've never seen one
