Please Help Asses Damage 56K Warning

So my car took two hits in the past week. First, a I was remodeling the garage (more to come on this soon) and I had some metal shelves in my driveway for a few days. They say there fine it just so happened that I was home when a huge gust of wind knocked them onto my car. So two small dents on the quarter panel...not too upset about those because I figure those dent guys at the dealership can fix that no problem, (how much does that cost by the way), but also, theres a dent, with a scratch that goes to the metal by my mirror. This I figure I need to fix very quickly so that it doesn't rust. So I was extremely mad about this, and now I get in my car this morning and see that my windshield is cracked!!! How much is this going to be to fix?? Thanks for any responses in advance.

I think the rough average for the replacement of the windshield is about $400 to $500 from what I've gathered here on the threads.

The door, If you replace it and repaint it? Maybe $1500+? It cost me $860 to repaint and replace my front bumper. Hopefully someone will cover it for you or your deductible on your insurance is very low.

I'm not sure if those paintless dent guys will be able to fix it, it goes pretty deep from the picture.

Also gives you a chance to install that KPT module that lets you roll up your windows remotely.

I assume you have insurance? This is what the "comprehensive" part of your policy is for. You only need to worry about your deductible, now what everything is going to cost.

PolishPete, sorry to hear about your TL, I had a shopping cart hit the door, jumped right out but, no one around! That sucked!!

I don't believe the Dent guys can get the dent out above the mirror cause they typically need access to the back of the dent and this area is boxed but the other one is a piece of cake. Doesn’t hurt to ask though!

If you plan on replacing the windshield with a factory one and have the dent repainted, I would go through your insurance. The factory windshield is over $400 before installation. You can save a lot by going with an aftermarket windshield and according to some owners on this forum, is thicker and more chip resistant. Oh, BTW, I would stay away from those windshield repair kits for your chip, it's pretty large and you will still notice it.

Besides, to repaint the "mirror" dent they will probably need to repaint a large area to get the color to blend. Alternative... Touchup paint and a steady hand, won't look as good but it's inexpensive.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out!

Ya I know this dent can't be fixed because of the scratch. Is there anything I can put over the metal...even though it's a very small cratch...I don't want it to rust. Also, I probably won't have time to get that fixed now. Actually, the insurance should cover the windshield and that at once huh?

Get the touch paint from the dealership and apply it with a toothpick. Or ask the dealership detailer to touch-up the area until you can get it repaired.

If you can not get to the dealership, then wax the area of exposed metal to provide some protection until you can get to the dealership or get it repaired.
