New to the Acura world, we just got a 2006 TL, my question is why would the passenger side of the console be getting hot, heaters are off, and the drivers side is cool or normal to the touch. The passanger side is down right hot. Is this normal? Thanks alot

the heater/ac does not need to be on for air through pass through... At highway speeds you will either get a cold breeze or a warm breeze through open vents...
x2 try turning on the heat, but then turning the temps way down and then shutting the heat off. See if that makes a difference, like they said its probably that the heat is on two different settings....passanger side being higher when it was last on
Maybe I was not clear enough
Thanks for the helps fellows, The problem is the console itself. The air temp is fine in the car. Both seats are cool. No heater on anywhere. The side of the console on the passenger side is really hot. From about the emergency brake back. Real hot to the touch, and thats just going 10 miles down the road. Someone said it might be the heater coil? Is that where it is? Thanks alot, just real nervous being its new to me

Thanks for all the info, I'll try the recirculate thing today, if not I'll head to the dealer. Just wondering, can I take it to a Honda dealership or must I go to a Acura? Have a Honda alot closer..........thanks all
Honda can check them out. You do not need to take it to an actual Acura dealer. However, none of us have ever had a center console that was HOT like you are describing. Sounds like you bought this used from a non-Acura dealer or person-to-person sale, right? If so, it could be an issue with the tranny that the prior owner did not divulge.
No, this is most definitely not normal. The heater coil and the transmission (manual or automatic) is nowhere near the sides of the center console. As for air passing through the ducts in the console to the rear console vents, that only happens when the dash vents are "on". What you're describing almost sounds like some sort of electrical fault. Definitely get this checked out.

o Temperature at 70.
o Mode was manual.
o Of course, no A/C.
o Vents were set to floor.
o "Dual" mode was off.
o Outside temperature was around 44 degrees.
So you really want to get this checked out because it is not normal.

i know exactly what your talking about ! is it hot at night? or is it hot even in the day time? if its night time its because when you turn your headlights on in the console thers also a lightbulb that goes on. causing alot of heat because its under a white plastic cover. took me awhile to figure that out

Good lord, what a move. I found the problem. Beleive it ot not the darn heat was ran all the way up on the passanger side. I guess I'm not that firmilliar with the duel heat thing yet. There was no lights on to indicate anything was on, but as soon as I ran the temp back down the console was cool to the touch again. Thanks for the help thou friends, This is a great site....

FWIW, just push "Dual" on the left side of the console and it will turn the dual controls either on or off-- the desired temp readout for each side will equalize when the dual controls are off.
I rarely use the dual mode since either I'm alone or my wife is comfortable with the same temp as me.
glad you figured it out, thats what I thought it was. When its warm out I will often have to turn on the heat just to turn it down so it wont blow warm air through then turn it off
