I still cant decide on what percent to get the tints.

I stopped at a dealer today and noticed the etched glass looked like it would look really bad with tint. I ask the salesman and he said I would have to make it clear that I don't want etched glass because they do it to all of them (Montclair Acura).

Anyone have opinions on etched glass and tint?

 

That is like 15% or possibly 20%. VERY Illegal everywhere. If you use it on the front (i.e. drivers side) windows, you will run the risk of getting pulled because it's too dark. Some use 35% on front two windows and then the darker (i.e. 20% on the rears and rear window). As long as you don't mind the cost to have it removed once you do get a ticket, go for it. Search on my name, I believe there is a thread out there that shows 20% in one photo and then 35% in the next. These were taken 2 days apart from each other. I first put the 20% all the way around and discovered that it was sooo dark that I could not see through it to see the outside mirrors at night well enough so I pulled it all off and went 35%. Or jsut check my gallery as it shows the two in one photo.

 

He went with 20 percent all the way around. I went with 20 on rear 5 and 50% on front 2

 

When tinting, do it right. By right I mean do the entire car in one shade or color. If not, you're car will look like a tinted rainbow, yuck!.

The color of your car and it's interior has "alot" to do with how light or dark the tint will look overall. If you go dark, your car will have that street/getto look and therefore attract the the po, po. Also, at night, your vision will most likely be hamperred, which is a whole nother liabilty I won't go into.

If you go light to super light, your car will still have the same UV protection as the darker tints, but you will most likey forego being pulled over, ticketed and thus having to remove the tint on the windows indicated on the citation.

Tint Scale:

70% Super light
50% Light
35% Darker
20% Super Dark
5% Limo Tint

I have an antracite/ebony TL, I went with %50 all around, looks good, but I had hoped that it would've of come out even lighter than it did. I did my sister's car (silver/tan) and her car looked perfect to me.

right now im thinking i should get about 25 % all around, but I might like the light tint look.

 

I have 35 on front two windows and 20 the rest of the way around... it isn't too noticeably different but I wish I would have ran the risk and just went with 20 all the way... still trying to figure out how to post photo's though!

Sorry I don't have pictures, and even if I did, I don't know how to submit them (and I have tried in the past).

The problem with pictures is that depending on the angle of the picture you can "make" your tint look light or dark. Moreover, look at the picture in the above. He states the tint is 35% all the way around, notice how low (angle of the carmera) he's picture is, which makes the tint look light. Also is the sunroof open? if so that can make a huge difference in how the tint looks. Lastly, what color is the interior, another factor to consider.

I will take pictures and find someone to post for me, and I will do the following, I will take a picture that makes my TL's tint look really light and one that makes the tint look darker, this it done by simply changing photo angle and opening or closing the sunroof & cover.

By the way, I like the way the tint looks on the ABP TL, my tint looks a little darker than that, but my tint is %50, which is a lighter grade tint, go figure.

I just got 20% on my SSM, and it looks perfect. Any darker than that is no good on a lighter colored car, IMO.

I can't post pics until my GF brings back the Camera, so give me a day or 2 and I'll post.
