Where Did My Garage Go?!!

Well, we made it to the NY meet safe and sound, but on the way back, I was passin a van goin over a bridge, and as soon as I crested the bridge, there was a tree limb right in front of me. Carrielynn behind me, van on my right, and water on the left..... Couldn't go anywhere. Ended up takin the limb right in the front bumper. Pulled about a foot and a half out of the drivers side fog light. Was pretty angry about that. Oh, well, gotta call the ins company and file a claim, and hopefully have it fixed by the CT meet.

After wasting the last 80 minutes of my life.....its 20 pages of BS. Whoever worked on the car just bolted the S/C to the Type-S and let it run. They stopped updating the thread since about late 2009 and never posted any recent dyno sheets. Personally, from what everyone was saying it seems the engine could risk blowing. The owner at the time kept claiming he was never going to stop modding it and then all of a sudden he vanished from the forums. With that being said, along with the fact it has been in two accidents, and the carfax is clean he must of gone about getting it fixed from a friend or someone who didnt do the best job. For 24K it seems like too much money for such a risky investment.....let me know if you want me to check it out though, I have no problem stopping from my way home from work. Alright, now I can finally leave work!

After reading about all the damage that was done to this car I personally would not buy it. When I bought my used Type S one of my requirements was that it had 100% all original paint and body panels. Sounds like this particular Type S has had a LOT of body work done. All the body work along with a supercharger, engine, drivetrain that you know nothing about I wouldnt touch this car with a 10 foot pole. Why not get a stock unmolested Type S thats in excellent original condition?
Just a heads up there is a very nice carbon bronze 07 Type S 6mt with only 31K miles thats certified in Naperville, IL that I know you can get for 25. I drove the car and inspected in extensivly. It even comes with an extra set of winter wheels/tires. Tell you what if this car might interest you PM or email me at jamespowles@yahoo.com and I can get in touch with you if you want to pursue the one in Naperville.

i just talk to chris from subsonic motor (subsonicman). He told me that the car was running fine. The owner just left it and it got sold at a Auction. Nothing is wrong with it. If you still think of buying it. Just gave Chris a call. 860 383-4656

if the ad had indicated that it was in several wrecks or trees or whatever and the price was reasonable, then yes it might be a good buy.
but the dealer is trying to do some shady shit. hiding the damages and selling it at a high price point.
no telling what else "chris" might tell you to sell the car.
Pass this car up.

This car was owned by Sean who is a local member here in CT. I've seen the car in person a few times. It's my understanding that the car was repossessed, which is why the CarFax indicates that it was sold at auction.
I would stay away.....especially at that price point. I was told the car wasn't running before it was repoed so there is no telling who did what to make it a running car......

Also from reading that 20 page thread, not that I know Chris, but it sounds like he would say anything to get that car sold....shady business going on.
And lol @ that website. Check it out. "First and only shop to Supercharge and Acura TL Type-S." Must have failed to mention the car died, was repoed, and showed gains only slightly better than a S/C 3G

This children, is why you don't put a deposit down on car you haven't put eyes or miles on. OP, if you do end up buying this ride... remove the SC, sell it and do FI right by investing in the turbo kit.

Well yeah why do you think anything gets repod? its not getting paid for. Hey its your call but I just cant imagine buying a car that you know and even read for yourself has been smashed up and fixed a number of times...has had more mechanical work done to it than most cars see in an entire lifetime. Not only that but im telling you of a perfectly clean and unmolested Type S 6mt in the same area that I know for a fact is clean and maintained. It has less miles, covered under factory warranty, original paint and panels and no kid beating the crap out of it. Like I said before if you want more details on this car let me know im willing to help. Were just trying to look out for you.

I just spoke to the used car manager at the dealer that actually bought the car from the auction... he said he bought it for himself to keep. After taking back to the shop he said they tested out and they noticed the engine was smoking .... they had to get another type s motor that took him 3 months to find. They have paperwork and records of ASE certified techs that did the work. The new engine has 30k miles and 6 months of warranty. NOW, my next question to them was what happened to the A/F ratio and boost gauges that were in the car, and how did u go about tuning the car with the Supercharger? Of course he didn't know how to answer those questions and he said he was gonna check with the service department and see what they did to tune it. He also told me I can come up there and take the car to any performance shop that I chose to and have them check it and tuned if needs to be and they will pick up the bill... the guy only gave me the "full" story after I told him all the info I gathered from this post (thanks guys!) With that being said, im waiting for them to call back once he finds out how they went about tuning the car......
Please feel free to ask any questions I could use to ask them once they call... and again thank u acuraziners for all this work u have done to look out for me...

If the body work was done right I can't say that would scare me off. If done right you should not be able to tell the difference anywhere. But it really depends on the shop doing the work. If it was bought damaged at auction and repared by some guy in his back yard or a budget body shop I would run away.
You need to find out who did the body work. Carfax is somewhat worthless. It requires the damage be reported to DMV from either an accident report or an insurance company. Not everyone does that and some states restrict what information someone can get from DMV. Just because carfax doesn't show anything means nothing.
As for the motor I would definatley have it checked out by a professional. I would also take the time to run it down to a body shop to have them look at it.

Buying a non heavily modified car isn't any safer. Any intelligent person removes the mods and sells them seperately. Exspecially forced induction, that is if they hope to get more then 10 cents on the dollar for their mods.

I could never understand why people decide to put down payments on cars or drive cross country to buy a car they have never seen, drove or gotten checked mechanically. I would never put a down payment on a vehicle I have only seen pictures of, let alone never even driven! Just my 2 cents.

OP if I were you I would stay FAR away from this car. It damn sure isn't worth the money unless the dealer you're buying it from agrees to warranty the car IN-HOUSE so that if any of the work that their "ASE Certified" techs did doesn't hold up they can be held responsible.
If I were you I would just throw an S/C on the car you have and make sure it's done right. The difference in power between a blown base 3G, and a blown (and possibly half assed) S is going to be negligible, AND you'll have piece of mind knowing that it was done right.
I'm not trying to rain on your parade or anything, I just don't want you to get screwed. I know that the appeal of owning a blown S is appealing, but the appeal will wear off when it becomes a money pit.
This is exactly why I don't by modified cars. You never really know who had their hands on it.

I know they made some modification to the Comptech black box to adjust injector pulse width to adapt it to work on the type-s. I am guessing it didn't work out. I wonder why put the SC back on. The car is MT and should fetch a good amount in resale. The meth nozzle looks pretty questionable mounted in the connector between the SC and the elbow going to the intake.

Bigg, considering it has a different motor and the body damage, I'm not too sure about this Type S....

Performance chip
Hi I'm new to the Acurazine, I've read a lot of helpful tips about my TL, I currently own a 2005 TL. I have read about performance chips made for my car and I was hoping somebody could give me some advice on wether or not to use one? and which one should I use?

Dude, you can't be serious......don't thread jack the OP. If you have questions make your own thread. But in this case I would suggest searching before you do unless you have a Nomex suit handy.

I don't know if I mentioned it earlier but the dealer is willing to refund my down payment if the deal doesn't go through... which it won't! ... I also forgot to mention that the guy that owned the car blew the engine, dealer wanted close to 10k to repair and since he had lost his job he couldn't fix it nor make payments on it and that's how it got repoed.... I always wanted a type s, and prob with all the extra money I invested in my 04 mt I could have had a type s. Lol but now someone offered me a decent amount of $$$ for my car and with me new job I can easily afford to get one. I absolutely LOVE my TL and it will be so hard to let it go....
Now I will keep looking for a type s and in my area even though the prices out here seem to be kinda high compared to other states with the same amount of miles...
Thanks again Azine...
Ps: dealer never called back. I will give them a call tomorrow to see what they said about the tuning stuff...
