Question Phone upgrading Problems

Just wanted to know if anyone else has had problems upgrading your phone. Cingular told me yesterday that if I wanted the Siemens 56 I would either have to pay full price ($200.00) instead of the current deal price ($70.00) or wait until April 2005 to upgrade. NO ACCEPTIONS (I just bought a new phone in August with no deal involved.) If you have or haven't had problems, I'm curious to know who your service is through and the phone you chose.

Already did and they said that it will cost $150 disconnect fee and that this "policy" is standard to make everything fair for all customers. They said it would do no good to speak with anyone else because their supervisors and CEO's are behind them 100%.

yep I got the same thing from AT&T when I wanted a bluetooth phone. I think u have to have the phone for about a year or something like that before u can get the sale price. Either that or go to ebay

actually Cingular has a 21 month upgrade policy
This may sound stupid but can I still stay w/ Cingular if I buy the phone elsewhere?

Yes you can. All you have to do is take the sim card out of your current phone and insert it in your new phone. Takes all of 30 seconds. You don't even need to notify them of the change.

Just make sure the phone is unlocked. And if it's a model Cingular doesn't cary, don't expect any help from them if you have issues with it.
