People using your pics posted here on Acurazine?

I was just flipping through eBay looking at different things when I see a pic of my car on there that i posted on here...I'm sure I'm not the only one these people have done this too, but I found it a bit odd. The funny thing, is that two separate sellers are using my pic. They also have another pic of another car as well. They are selling the trunk spoiler. One problem, my car and the other car have different types of spoilers...lmao...

I am not promoting these items. Just thought it was funny.

Surprised, I wouldn't be very happy at people using pics of my car without permission.

Not with my TL but with past cars I would browse other car forums for the same car and see people trying to pass my car off as their own......they would get called out quick with how active I was and everyone knew my car....I think its pretty funny.

That's horrible. The other car has one of those m3 spoilers. Weird they would both pick the same two pictures unless those companies are related... You should send them an email asking for sample product since they're using your car.

so i did a photoshoot for my buddy who has a 5th gen prelude. they used one of my pictures without permission and put their own mark on the pix. nothing much you can really do tho, since the pixs are posted on the web. we had them remove the pix but they later put it back on.

It's bad enough that they're using them, but putting a watermark on a picture that isn't yours is kind of a smack in the face.

To OP, you can have Ebay have them remove it if you care about it that much. A while ago I saw a few different listings with Ack's taillights. Kind of a douchebag move.

yea tell me about it. oh well. me and my buddies know who took the pix. im not stressing over it. it's not like i was making money off that pix anyways. if so it'd be a whole different story

To OP if you do get them to take the pictures down. be sure to check back in a couple months cuz they might repost them

Start using watermarks in your pictures.

Honestly if you're not using the pictures for commercial use (ie. selling them) I don't see it as a problem.

You're putting your car on the net for others to see, the sellers are just using your pics because they fit what they are trying to sell (the spoiler).

However, putting their watermark on your photo... that's BS.

And LOL at people using other people's cars as their own.

Just because it's on the Internet doesn't mean it's 'yours' if you want it. We all kind of act that way and most of the time it's not a problem. But if someone wanted to get fussy about it, you could make them remove the content or reimburse you for it's use.

One quick, simple protection is to put a (c) on the photo. Unlike trademarks which have to be registered, you can claim copyright of an original work of art merely by marking it so. For example:

You don't even need to do that much. Just the action of taking the picture grants you copyright. However if you don't register it, it becomes harder to enforce.

Someone was saying that they got told to take down the pics and the popped back up again later. That should be pretty much a slam dunk for a copyright suit if you really cared.

Someone found my Type S on an Ebay site for foglight bulbs. I wrote to them and told them to take my pictures down (because they didn't ask me if they could use them).

They gave me a free set of bulbs in return for using my pictures.

If they're being hosted, change that particular picture to something like a big dildo. Their used car picture should reflect the change.

I've seen my old TL on eBay and Craigslist a few times

It is currently owned by a friend of mine and has never been for sale.
