Parking Break Cable adjustment
Parking Break Cable adjustment
Yes, I searched first. All the threads, pictures and garage topics are no longer valid links. Does anyone have instructions on how to open the center console and access the nut to do the minor adjustment for the parking brake?
Thanks,
Brian

So the last video seem to indicate that the first 4 are not necessary, yet that's on an Accord. Has anyone successfully done this adjustment via the rear of the center console on a 3G TL, as shown in that last video?
I didnt watch the vids, just copied and pasted the URL's here.
when I did my parking brake adjustment, the silver trims have to come off. YOU have to get in below the cup holders and there's no way of doing that without taking apart everything.
my bad for posting the honda vid!

I'm pretty positive, that if you open your center console, there is a rubber mat at the bottom that you can pull up. Underneath that there is a plastic "trap door" that you can pop open, and through that opening you can use a socket and ratchet to tighten the nut for the cables. I did it once in my TL. I haven't found the thread that I used though. If you go to the following link the rubber mat is #19 and the trap door is #20: https://www.acuraoemparts.com/auto-p...r-console-scat
Remove the rear storage compartment and you will see adjustment right there. no need to remove the entire center console. I would adjust at the rear drum before touching the one locate in the center console.

I just adjusted mine recently... definitely no need to disassemble the console. Just remove the rubber mat and then pop out the plastic cover in the bottom of the center console. You'll need a ratchet and socket to tighten the nut. IIRC, the service manual says to pull the lever up one click, which I think helps give you a better angle for adjusting it. And I think someone mentioned that it should be adjusted so it keeps the car from moving somewhere around 10 clicks.
In my case, I was able to adjust it to barely hold when all the way up, so I ended up needing to adjust the parking brake drums. That's not hard either... just requires lifting the back of the car, removing the wheels, popping the rubber window cover off the rotor, turning the rotor to find the star screw through the tiny window (it's at the bottom), then using a flat head screwdriver to turn it. That's similar to the parking brake adjustment that I've done on most cars.
Here's an image from the service manual showing the x-ray view of the adjustment in the console (you can't actually see the nut through the bottom of the console).

OP, what is the issue? Per the service manual, the PB should hold when you raise the lever 6-10 clicks. If it takes 1-2 extra clicks for it to hold, them the SM says to use the minor adjustment procedure. If it takes more than 1-2 clicks, then the SM says to use the major adjustment procedure instead.
