Paint/grill suggestion needed

I have a flat black painted front grill.

problem is that i live in a very windy and sandy desert. Wind+Sand= paint chips.

what other alternatives do i have? Im thinkin is it possible to powder coat a plastic grill? i have no idea how the powder coating process works or the molecular composition of the coating it self.

what should i do so that i take care of this once and never worry about durability again and about how much should it cost?

I have moved your thread to the main section from Performance Parts and Modifications per the notice in that section:

The "Parts & Modifications" in "Performance Parts & Modifications"
The intention of this forum is to discuss performance oriented issues and topics, and the parts and modifications which affect said performance. This means only performance parts and performance enhancing modifications should be posted in this forum.

It was never intended to be a receptacle for all parts and all modifications.

If you want to know the part number for a door handle, or you need to find some information on a part, or you want to discuss the various parts of the a-spec body kits, or you want to ask a question about tint, or you are interested in carbon fiber engine shrouds, or any of the many other threads that have been started here when they shouldn't have been, please post your thread in one of the other appropriate subforums or the main forum.

If your modification is not performance oriented, which includes but is not limited to tint, cleared headlights, rockblocker on lights, new shift knob, etc., none of which affect the performance of the vehicle, also please post in one of the other appropriate subforums or the main forum.

As far as your grille, you could always paint it and then have some 3M clear-bra applied to it along with the rest of the front of the car to keep from having paint chips and more damage.

I'm not sure about powder coating, but you can always plasti dip it or vinyl it. Last way longer then paint.

+1 I just wrapped mine in vinyl. Application has an outdoor lifespan of at least 4-5 years.

You can't powdercoat plastic, it will melt in the oven.

best bet would to wrap it in vinyl/or repaint then apply clear 3m clear bra over like csmeance said. Even tho it'll change color over time... dnt kno how obvious it'll be on AM.

If you don't want it to chip, you need to prep it, then seal it, then basecoat/clearcoat.

Painting that grille will be like painting a bumper

Exactly! As long as you do it right and don't try and cut corners it will come out great and last. I painted mine and I drive on the HWY all the time everyday. Here's mine:

Here are the pics:

I wrapped it myself. Not very hard to do. I'm thinking you're going to wrap your center bar which might be a little bit more tricky.
