So.....Last night dealer calls me to say, Leather on Drivers Side Read Door interior repaired, and it held. There had been a small separation at the seem on the interior panel just in front of the door handle.

And that the car was done being painted....but....

There were 2 specs of dust in the finish AGAIN!
Said it was MUCH MUCH better than the original hood repaint which had easily a dozen obvious raised imperfections due to trapped debris in the finish....but

Since they knew that's what I was unhappy with the first time, they didn't want to turn it over to me with that condition, and they were trying to figure out what to do next.

Strategy sounded like they were going to try and wet sand and buff the finish to see if that would remove them.....but if not they might send the car off-site to a car paint shop with ventilated painting booths.

I was frankly a little stunned to hear that the are painting cars with what must amount to basically a bay without any air filtration to control air born particulates, but apparently that's the case as 2 consecutive paint jobs now of the hood have been ruined by dirt contaminating the finish.

Loaner swap from the Sonata's flat tire btw, Chevy Malibu - yeah...no.
Never thought I'd say it but I miss the Hyundai comparatively.

Meanwhile, I don't even know if I miss my Type-S or not, Took delivery on the 18th and it's been back at the dealer since the morning of the 21st - of July that is, today being August 7 n all.

The saga continues....

^i think you're just very picky.

its not even fun following your progress any more!
in a couple of days, another thread will pop up by you, exclaiming something else...

maybe, try keeping all your post in one thread.
call it an online journal or something, a progress thread of sorts.

it will be better than opening up new threads for something you could have told us in your other millions of threads...

Not necessary and uncalled for

Really? Why?

Brock - you feed right into this instead of letting it go. You can do as you see fit, but this just adds to all the nonsense going on in Ramblings.

I'm out.

Did you take it to Joe's Crab Shack to get painted? Sounds like you took it to a discount shop that did not have a ventilated paint booth. What did you expect?

Of course, if you didn't know the paint booth wasn't ventilated, then I retract my previous statement and question. Of course take it back.

Dashes of dis & dat
LoL

So a few things.

It's at CarMax not Joe's Monster Truck n Tow or Carbshack or Crabshack or Joe's anything else for that matter!

I think the universe told me this morning after posting this that I really still do miss & want her.

The adjacent Subdivision...there's 1 NBP Type-S that I've seen slipping in & out of the entrance a time or 3.

This morning, wouldn't you know it was pulling out at the same time I was in my lovely bronze Chevy Malibu loaner

I was definitely lusting after it and as we were turning opposite directions at the T intersection I was along side it for a bit too as we each waited for traffic to permit us to turn.

So yea.....

As for how bad the 2 dust spots are I can't say they told ME that the finish wasn't perfect, so they were dealing with it before even letting me see it!

But either way, why should I accept a substandard quality paint job?

Anyhoo as to the constant thread...sure I'd do that but the one I was using most recently first was moved, and then locked....so is what it is.

no. i wouldnt accept it.

and doesnt mean you need to start a new thread on something as petty as "OMG, havent had my car in like 6 weeks. im dying"

make a progress thread and keep all your updates in one thread.
it also keeps your updates in chronological order.
so, if some one wanted to see why you had paint problems in the first place they dont have to go searching for your other six billion threads.

as stated in your other thread; Im called justnjacks.
my car is always on jackstands for silly minor stuff.
doesnt mean Im going to start a petty thread about silly minor stuffs.

Just curious, but did you inspect it the first time and see the imperfections and also this time? If you did the first time, but not the second, my thought is they have put you on the back burner to get paid for work instead of doing rework, and your redo will be done when they have spare time.

Having painted many parts before, I understand that is is difficult to get a perfect job done.

I can live with 2 dust specks as long as everything else looks good (paint match, clear coat, etc).

And mayhap I would have accepted it had I seen it.

Look I haven't been overly demanding or yelling at them, I've been very please cool calm and collected when dealing with everyone at CM.

I think honestly at this point they themselves are feeling quite embarrassed by their inability to git'r done and done right/well, so they are starting to go to extra lengths to ensure it's done well.

I got a call this afternoon with the latest update:

The leather repair they'd done yesterday was coming undone apparently after being in the sun sealed up and hotboxing all day long.

So they made the call to send it off lot to 2 outside vendors.

1) A interior detail / repair shop to address the leather issues.

2) A body shop for a proper paint booth job.

They further disclosed that there was some over-spray from their 2nd paint job yesterday on the front bumper and they thought that could be buffed out.

Again I didn't get to see it so I'm not sure how noticeable/bad it looks/ed.

At this rate I'm guessing Monday or Tuesday next week.
I'm nearly going to have to make my first car payment before it gets returned to me.

I can't imagine why
