Owned an A4 3.0 last night

Still experimenting some with my new (to me) TL-S. Had a 0-90 run with an A4 3.0 last night, owned it from 20 mph on. Not surprised, as those make ~225 hp if I recall correctly, but still fun to get a kill.

Really want an opportunity with an 02/03 Maxima, as thats what I just came from. THe top end on the TL feels stronger than my old Maxima, would love to have a 40-XXX run with one! (off the line that Maxima had waaaay more torque, curious about a higher speed run though)

nice kill. Those Audis are pretty quick, but I love TLs and the "sleeper" look they have. I like the idea that a family sedan can walk some of the spotier cars out there. Congrats.

I've seen those run at the track before, off the line they FLY (if driven well, the one i saw was a stick and the guy knew how to launch AWD) But their trap speeds aren't amazing, in stock form of course. Throw in a boost controller, then the fun can begin!

Although I am rarely in Ct, I'm game if you are ever in NJ or upstate NY (i.e.: I87-Thruway-Northway)!! Caveat: I do have some bolt on mods (Y-pipe, UR Pulley, Injen intake, Royal Purple Oil/ATF) and have walked a few stock 5.5G Maximas on the high end myself.

I did run a TL-S on the NJ Turnpike a few years ago when I was stock. I pretty much maintained 1 car length on him @ ~130mph. (And we both had a laugh at the Civic EX trying in vain to catch up.)

Be careful what you wish for Platano. Some of those 2.7Ts are modded (a la Audi B5 S4) and would lay a hurting on Acura TLs and 3.5L Maximas.

There are claims on Audi forums that these cars can be easily turned in 350HP/330lb torque cars by simply upgrading some software.

Thats pretty much the point, I wanted one but with their wonderful track record I didnt go for it. I would like to see if made a mistake. I did see one a week ago but had the license plate BiTurbo so I decided not to even go there

By the way are you coming to the meet next week after church?

Sorry if this a bit off topic. F23A4 I just switched from Mobil1 full syn to Royal Purple syn and haven't really noticed a difference, probably because both are great oils, the Royal Purple was on sale for the same price as Mobil 1 so I decided to give it a try. How do you like the Royal Purple ATF? I was thinking about giving it a try, but was concerned that is peanut buttered ATF and could cause some issues with my TL's tranny.

I ran Mobil1 since my Maxima's first oil change back in 2002 and its VQ run noteably smoother, revving more seemless than before.

As for the ATF, I do feel likewise here as well. Previously, my Maxima would sort of "hang" for about a second on the 1-2 shift. Now it pretty much pops right into 2nd as it should. Better yet, midrange acceleration feels MUCH better upon downshift. As a DexronIII ATF, I do not think it should cause any problems in your TL and I do recommend it for smoother shifting.

A4s are slow. I havent seen non-quattro 3.2 liter either.
A3 can be fast if it's 3.2 liter

A4's are slow... but be warry of any car with a chip and a 1.8T / 2.0T. The small 1.8T's and some 2.0T's will walk our cars with the right launch.

Also, if you see the small S4 badge and the proper side skirts etc (not some BS A4 with an S4 badge) be warned. The S4 will walk a TL any day. And yes with the proper tuning the B5 S4's can produce upwards of 350 hp. I came from briefly having a B5 S4 and they are quick

I just received the Audi A4/S4/RS4 brochure yesterday. From the 2.0T to the RS4, it really is a tight ride. I am starting to like them more than the 3-series.

The Audis look 100 times better than the new 3 series, but neither one gives you your money's worth.

There is no way in hell a 1.8T / 2.0T Audi A4 will walk our cars with the right launch. Not sure if you meant with a chip as it's not very clear in the quote. But like I said, those A4's have no chance.

I ran across the audi on my way home from work in the Willington area. I just moved to Manchester 3 weeks ago.

Don't recall the color of the car or anything, it seemed like it was in stock form though.

This was prior to my headers too
