Question Outside Noise

All,

I just got my 2005 TL last Friday. I have noticed that sitting still at a light I can hear cars go by almost as if one of my windows was cracked open. Actually sounds like the sound is coming thru my front windshield.

Is anybody else experiencing this?

Over next weekend I will have an opportunity to sit in my buddies 2004 TL and see if its the same.

congrats on the new ride!

i can hear the cars go by, but the sound is not loud at all. you can actually go back to the dealership and ask to drive some of the other TL's to compare more accurately.

It's not bad to have your friend tried on your car, and you try his. IMO.

Keep us updated. Thanks.

And the sunroof "sunshade".. That too helps alleviate outside noise...

I've heard that some TL's have seals that don't seal properly. One guy suggested you close the door on a dollar bill. If the bill doesn't pull out easily your seals are OK. If the bill pulls out easily your doors need to be tightened so there is more pressure on the rubber weather seals. That would create the noise problem you described. Try it! I did and my seals held the dollar bill tight.

I had my car detailed at the dealer today. I mentioned the noise, they verified it was a problem with the Door Stops. They just needed to be adujusted to let the door close more

This would be valid for other cars too, the doors not shutting all the way?

Saw that dollar bill trick on HPTV(horse power TV, ahh, great redneck tv). They also sell little fog sprayers, put the nosel up and run it alon the seem. I think u can also use dish soap and turn on all the blowers inside the car.
