Ouch...accident

UGH!

So Friday night one of those pesky telephone poles ran behind my car and I hit it. Cracked the casing on my rear tail-light.

Ironically enough, I have my car in for inspection this morning. Guess how much they want to replace it...$340! Is that insane or what?

So my question to the group is...how hard is this to do? Considering I have no mechanical ability I still think I can do it. Can't I just get to the screws from the trunk somewhere? Anyone ever done it???

per the type-s tail threads I think you have to remove the bumper to remove the tail light housings.

Look on the bright side, you can upgrade to type-s tail housings now.

So I Have to remove the bumper since it's not a type-s? WOW, that's insane but probably explains why it's so $$$. Oh well, my fortune sees some clear epoxy in my future!

You would need to remove the bumper irregardless of it being a type-s or not. The rear bumper removal can be done by a first timer in 25 minutes without a problem, it is a piece of cake.

Although I'm not a "fella", I may be able to provide a little insight.

I recently had my car repaired for a golf ball ding that was located on the panel between the rear passenger door and the roof (that small stip of panel). In order to fix it, they had to remove the entire rear side panel, the bumper and the tail light. So if I were to guess... I'd say that KennyC is correct.
