OT financing question

I recently bought a house. Ive got outstanding credit. But, my question is.... if i went to get a qoute before i bought the house, would the acura dealer still give me the same qoute even after buying a home? In other words, would me buying a house mess with my credit enough to stop me from buying myself a new TL too?

Thanks for your help guys.

Not as badly as buying the car will mess up buying the house.

As long as your debt to income ratio is still ok, buying the house should make no difference in the car buying.

The same can't necessarily be said if you buy the car 1st

Since you have already bought the house, this is kind of a moot question. I would think the fact you qualified to buy a house would improve your credit rating, but it would depend on your income whether they think you can make both the house payment and the car payment.

Best thing to do is to just go get the quote and see what happens. There is enough info in this forum about how much people are paying to help you decide if you are getting a good deal or not.

thanks for your fast input guys. Ive been reading these boards like a hawk for the past couple of weeks. I even got in on the "tvandnav2go" group buy. (bought it even before ive bought the car!) haha.
I feel a little bit more comfortable with going to buy the car now.

The only thing that sucks is that more then likley i wont be able to get the car i want. I went to get the Anthracite on ebony 6 speed w/ navi and they said they dont exist to people in texas because you cant find that in texas or surrounding states.

Im just wondering but has anyone on there been in the same situation that im in? (as far as buying a home and new car)

Also, is it true that the dealer cant order anymore Anthracite manual navi's? Thats what a local dealer told me.

The dealer offered me my 01 accord v6 ex + 30K loan at 5.9% out the door w/ TTL & bodykit & backup sensor, would you guys say thats a good deal?

Thanks again for your input, you guys are great help!

Steve

Do not do the financing with the dealer just yet. What you should do is visit a local credit union/bank and ask them to quote you. Once you get that, you can present it to Acura for matching. If they do not match, then just get the credit union to cut you a check. You should be able to do better than 5.9% if your credit rating is stellar.

Thanks for your advise. I went back there today and they offered me 5.65. After a few hours of haggling they went down to 5.05. Im waking up early in the morning to check other places and see if i can get a better deal.

If all goes well, ill be driving home in my new 05 Anthracite on ebony navi TL in the morning!

If your credit is excellent, the hit your score will take for the extra debt should not affect your rate.

I just used Pentagon Federated (PenFed.org) and got 4.75% for 60 mos. It took about 15 minutes to sign up (costs $20, but free if you meet eligibility requirements) and get approved. They sent me a check the same day.

I have also been told that PenFed will refinance recently purchased cars (some a year old) at this same rate.

qualifying to buy a house and then trying to buy a car does not mean the car is a slam dunk. It has a lot to do with how much you are paying out for what you make. Leverage... etc.

I was once told that while my credit was excellent, having the ability to borrow on a home equity line of credit as well as the ability to charge as much as 40k in credit cards scared the hell out of a financial institution. That can work against you...

the biggest thing i would be worried about is the taxes for the house not being fully assessed. my wife and i bought a house in '02 and a new van in '04 and our tl in '05 and we had no issues at all. we do have awesome credit though.

it all comes down to debt to income ratio. good luck.
