Opening trunk when driving ?

I was driving and trying to find where a rattle was coming from.
I was knocking on some plastic panel when i hit accidently the trunk opening button. At my surprise the trunk opened.

Is it normal, i don't think it's safe. I know with the remote you can't do that.

Happily you see it in the MID that your trunk is open so you just have to stop.

Don't try it at highway speed.

doubt it would open at hwy speed... wind would probably keep it down

mine barely opens when i push the button (less then 1/2") sometimes i cant even tell if its open

ONAGER,
I believe that is an "option" limited to only "anthracite" TL's

Just kidding,,,,
I find this strange also. My previous "AT" vehicles prevented the trunk from electrically opening anytime out of "park". I really don't think my Civic Si would open "on the move" either - it was a 5MT.
As mentioned, another good reason not to have it pop up excessively.

cheers

They designed the trunk release button in a special way such that whether you are driving or not, if you don't press the button, the trunk absolutely will not open. It's a pretty fail-safe mechanism I think.

But just don't mash the brakes on too hard... or that speed brake will become a flying wing...

My 98 Maxima had the trunk release button under the drivers armrest. If I had something hard, such as my Palm, in my left front pocket it would often pop open when taking a turn. I must have had that thing open on me 50 times in the 3 years I owned it. They fixed that in the 2002 and made it a pull rather than a push.
