Which Oil filter for TL?

I've been using the Mobil 1 oil filter (model M1-M110). I've always used the Mobil 1 5-20 synthetic oil also. Is there a better filter alternative, or is the Mobil 1 the best available? Is there a Purolator Pure One filter available for the TL. How about a NAPA Gold filter? If the are available does anyone have good parts #'s? Do these filter and flow better than the standard Honda filter? Is there any concensus on filter and oil? I change oil and filter when the MID says to. Thanks for any input.

I use Castrol Syntec 5W-20 and either a Fram Tough Guard or NAPA Gold filter ...... every 5,000 miles.

I also use fram tough guard filter and castrol syntec full synthetic 5-20. I think they all flow about the same, not too much difference, just basically in price.

I've been using the same Mobil 1 filter you've been using with Havoline 5-20, changing per the MID.

The Mobil 1 filter you have been using is a good one. Also consider the Purolator Pure One filter which may be slightly better. Fram filters have a lousy reputation which they so rightly deserve. Go to the Bobistheoilguy website for a ton of info on oil and filters.

Mobil 1 filter is the best, Pure one is best value.

I use a pennzoil, but only because it doesn't cost me a damn thing. If I actually had to pay for an oil filter I'd use either the K&N or the Mobil.

After much much much research (especially through this site) I'm using M1 extended perfromance synthetic with the M1 filter. I'm no scientist so I don't know EXACTLY whats going on in my engine, but I bet it's happy and I have peace of mind.

As for cost, just look out for a big sale. You should be able to snag it all for $30-$50. You can go for another brand and save half your money, but I need to change only every 15k miles so it's peanuts to me if you consider other maintence costs for your car.

If you're really into saving money, do the oil change yourself. It was a piece of cake and so worth it. I got an estimate of $90 from a shop to do the same job. Saved myself $50 and I know I did the job right.

Extended performance dudes....It's a new line.

OK OK I know you're still thinking ???? "you gonna trust that and sleep at night?"

Well my plan is to change at 10K just to be safe.

Well its not really new, been out for awhile. You then have to worry about changing your oil filter, since they are not made for 15k miles. I believe fram makes a 7500 mile one, but that is all that I know of. My point is that I would still buy an oil that was good for 30k miles and change it at 10k (if it still looked good, if not I would change it sooner), that is the way I am.

I think it was Roadrage that did a detailed exam of the filters. Must be somewhere in 3G garage. Suggest you find it. Don't think he liked fram as I recall. I use STP2808 based on that analysis.

You're right it really isn't that new but a lot of people still don't know there is an oil out there with a 15k guarantee. Now I wouldn't use my car as a guinea pig to test these extremes and I'm not going to believe everything Mobil says, but they're putting their rep on the line with these heavy claims. I'd say it's safe to stay well within these limits.

They're one of the most recommended OEM synthetic oils, in high end cars with complex engines so I give them credit.

But I will still change sooner than 10K. Here's my reasoning; I am also going to be going somewhat according to my MID. If for some reason during this cycle the MID shows my oil life running out quicker, I will change sooner. If this cycle seems longer, I may hit 10K....I don't think I will have any engine problems as long as I own this car. And I don't plan on keeping this car more than 5 yrs.

By the way most of you know that M1 EP is not available in 5W-20. I used 5W-30 this time (I know someone will tell me how bad that is, but I think I'm safe.) but there's new oil on the way.
