Oil filter accessibility

might be a silly question but:

Each time I change the oil I've always raised the car and removed the right wheel to access the oil filter.
Is that overkill?

I plan on buying a set of ramps and want to ask if the oil filter would be accessible without removing the wheel

Just changed my oil last night and the oil filter was a breeze to get off & wasnt messy. There's no need to remove anything to change the oil.

Put a oil pan under the oil filter.
Turn your wheel all the way to the right.
Reach behind the passenger wheel. And do your filter change.

I fill up (prime) the filter, and lube all around the filter and throw it on hand tight... If you need to take off the wheel you're either over tightening it or have fat arms

or muscular arms

reason I've been removing the wheel is to prevent spillage of fluid.
what I have been doing is placing a ziplock bag around the filter as im removing it to limit the spillage of oil.

Someone on the forum noted that in a post I read some time ago ( thanks, to whomever that was )

but, thank you all for the clarification.
Have a great day

No offensive its just common sense; plus you can do that while under the car without removing the wheel.
