Oil change valve

Good morning,

Was doing some research on the most popular oil/filter combos for our vehicles, and on a side note, came across this.

Search results :: Qwik Valve

Looks pretty creative, just gauging if anyone's had any experience.

I have had experience with customers who have used those, coincidentally those customers cars came in on tow trucks because the valve got bumped open and the oil leaked out. Not sure how they got opened, but had a few like that.

Try looking at the Fumoto Valve.

Amazon.com: Fumoto F-106N Engine Oil Drain Valve: Automotive Amazon.com: Fumoto F-106N Engine Oil Drain Valve: Automotive

From what I heard from most people, it's reliable, although oil flows slower when you open the valve for a change, it's reliable.

Original drain bolt ftw. Drains faster and you don't have to worry about a tab getting hit and stuck open, spilling oil everywhere when it's not supposed to.

The Fumoto valve is a quality valve. I actually bought one for my TL but wound up not installing it- it just didn't fit well with the limited clearance and I didn't want to add two washers.

If you change your own oil, the quick valve saves a little time and keeps your hands clean. The spring clip is actually hard to engage so I really doubt anybody would have an accidental opening on that valve.

If you don't change your oil, you have an advantage as well: you are much less likely having your oil pan threads or bolt stripped.

I did try another brand valve (QuikValve) and that sucker was bad- it dripped! Don't go with that one and only get the Fumoto.

If you want to keep your hands clean, get one of these. Works great! Well worth the $12 IMO:

This IS the Fumoto valve being sold by "Qwikvalve". I just bought one myself and it's very heavy duty. I'm replacing the EZ Drain plug which locks okay but won't stay open to drain. I have to push it in and hold it (what a pain). Good choice on this drain valve. I bought the extender to help with better clearance. Better price than Amazon also.

^ come to think of it, I think my drippy valve was the EZ-drain (gold anodization) and that was a crappy valve. Dripped bad half way through my oil change cycle on first use and I had to drain early to save my driveway. Never again would I go with that brand. I had the Fumoto on my wife's Suburu Outback for 9 years and never had a problem with that valve.
