Does anyone know if either the GM or Amsoil synchromesh is good for an 06 Civic 5 spd manual tranny?

My 05 TL 6spd MT shows no problems at 65k miles. If I understand this thread correctly, changing the OEM fluid to either the GM or Amsoil is a good move. Correct?

I never experienced the 3rd gear problem, just a little notchiness especially in the cold. At 37k miles, I changed the fluid with GM Synchromesh P/N 12345349. The local Chevy dealer says they no longer carry the friction modified stuff P/N 12377916. I immediately noticed much smoother shifting. I'm not sure if it would've been better to use the new Honda fluid, which I heard is pretty good stuff. I guess time will tell.

Cool How many times?????

The Gm product is made in the AMSOIL factory!!

MY AMSOIL guy saw the GM truck loading case after case of this product. They just change the label!!! Don't believe me?

Buy a quart of each one. Pour them into their own quart jar (clear glass). Smell them, look carefully at them. Side by side. If you can't tell by this......

Why pay more for just a label????

I replaced mine with Amsoil 6K ago and third is a bit notchy now again I'm gonna try the GM stuff. If GM is using Amsoil they aren't buying cases and pouring them into there bottles lol thats not how it works. This would be done by the drum at least and Amsoil would have a contract with GM. I'm not saying its not the same stuff I have no idea but its not happening by the case!

Not to derail this thread, but how often should we be changing out our MT fluid?

30k? 40k?

Thanks!

I do mine every 40,000 miles. You should be able to push this farther after the first two changes providing you don't put needless wear on your synchronizers.
