1st. whats the best intake to get for the 2007 TL type S

2nd. whats the best angel eyes lights to get

3rd. why the **** does my car eat so much **** gas! im only getting like 17 miles to the gallon!

Lastly. what is a good brand of car audio to get for woofers also to upgrade the ELS the car came with

You live in a cold environment and you most likely drive under 40 mph with stop and go traffic. So your gas mileage is quite normal.

Fiend, most guys gravitate to the AEM Version 2 cold air intake. Ken is right about the gas mileage. I'm not sure about the Angel Eyes-sorry.

So if Alaska has that little to do, you should have plenty of time for searching.

And I'm guessing "ppl", "people" for us olds, would probably be the ones who commented in threads you could find via searching. Right?

Lots of nice folks it seems on this site so far in my very limited tenure. Best to come in and play by their rules, eh?

Tons of threads about mods and more and more plastic you can add to your car. Hey, maybe an A-spec snow plow......

1. aem v2
2. none, they burn out frequently and look ghetto.
3. what gas do you put in? I stick with shell 93. all your fluids and filters good? add seafoam to the fuel and oil.

when people here say 'search' they mean search this site, not the internet.

if you take a little time to read through some of the threads, all your questions will be answered.
including but not limited too...cold air intakes, jpipes, aspec kits, gas mileage(which is normal btw, I get about 19mpg), you'll learn a lot by just reading and learning about your car.

I suggest you head here,

1. aemV2 seems to be the one to go with. heeltoe and excelerate are two vendors on this site that can hook you up. you can also check out the black market section of the forum to pick one up used. BUT if you really want some performance gains, check out richies website. he is a vendor here and can supply you with the new v3 jpipe, v3 pcd's, and his new full catback exhaust.

http://www.heeltoeauto.com/AEM-Perfo...-pr-62616.html

http://store.excelerateperformance.c...c/i-47067.aspx

http://www.r-.ecrater.com/c/493034/exhaust-products

2. angel eyes are subjective. i have them on my 07 type-s and i personally think they look great. here is where to get them.

http://umnitza.com/umnitza-acura-pre...08-p-1340.html

3. regarding gas milage, 17 is normal for stop n go city driving. hop on the freeway and keep speeds consistant and you'll see your mpg skyrocket. city driving i get 15-18, highway i can get more than 30.

car audio, i am not so sure on. check out the audio section of the forum. lots of good info there.

hth n welcome to the forum.

LoL @ A-spec plow. That's exactly what my co-worker said back when I was shopping around and showed him an aspec and non-aspec. "Lower it a bit and you could plow peoples driveways in your neighborhood.....as long as you had good snow tires"

I didn't like it, but might have pulled the trigger anyway if it would have been in good shape. It was an MT6 w/nav. But it had been smoked in, had multiple cigarette burns on the interior, and had the ultra-chromy wheels (ugly to start with IMO) with tons of curb rash. Ended up with a MT6 non-nav non-aspec in much better shape. No regrets there.

Anyway, don't mean to derail the thread. Acurafiend, I'm suprised at your mileage. What % city/highway miles do you drive? Auto or Manual? Are you punching it off the line after every red light? I get 28mpg pretty religiously and that's with 70% city driving. You've got the type-S but still, I'd think your mileage should be higher than that. This car can get really good mileage considering the power output of the engine if you're somewhat conservative in driving. That doesn't mean you can't punch it when you need to, but go easy off the line and watch the unnecessary braking and you'll likely see an increase. Search on this site for the proper way to seafoam and follow up with spark plug replacement if you're over 50K miles.

Yup, as it was said, the cold weather can kill your gas mileage by up to 25% fairly easily.

You lose gas warming up your car (0 mpg). This can be significant as your engine will high-idle and typically runs in open-loop operation before it reaches proper temps (thus richer burn).

You have greater losses due to cold oil; even though engine can heat up to normal temps in ~5 minutes, the tranny fluid can take much longer.

You get less traction on snowy/icy roads, burning more fuel compared vs road traveled.

Tires pressures are normally drastically lower when starting and can take much longer to warm up when driving on icy-cold roads.

Running the heater and other accessories (heated seats) can strain the alternator and causes more parasitic losses on the engine (similar to running the AC in hot weather, though the compressor is a much bigger drain).

Also, you should figure out what kind of driving you do. My guess is a lot of stop-and-go.

General fuel efficiency is based #1 off the engine efficiency. City fuel efficiency is heavily based on car weight (needing to accelerate a lot of mass takes a lot of energy). Highway fuel efficiency has to do a lot with vehicle drag (50-60 mph is where air drag starts to have a lot of effect).

Our TLs are fairly heavy beasts and stop-and-go driving will eat fuel like crazy (even more so with spirited acceleration).

Highway driving is going to be most efficient around 55 mph. This is where the engine is most efficient and air drag losses are still at a minimal. The faster you'll go above that point, the more significant your air drag losses will be and your mpg will actually start to drop.

the v2 fits. it says it is made for accords, but our TL's have the same config.

in all honesty, if it were me, i would buy richies v3 jpipe over the intake.

intake won't net you a lot of gain, and for $100 more i would just go with the jpipe. decision is up to you.

It's nice to see a local aziner! Let me know if you do the J pipe, headlights, or sound system, I'd love to come and help. I hear about all the other members meeting up with each other and I get jealous.
