No Front License Plate

First, wow, what a ridiculous thread bump. Second, I know it's 4 years later, but I'm still going to condemn you for going 128MPH on a public road, you fucking moron.
i have gotten a $840 ticket for going 128mph in a 55mph.it was on i97 in washington state i think. it was so weird cuz there were no cars on the road and it was like 1pm in the afternoon so i floored it and the on,ly reason i probbly didnt get aby faste was cuz there were 2 cop cars waiting for me with there lights on at the next freeway interence. when i asked the cop told me that they were radiod from the plane. i was like plane and they said that the state patrol hassnall planes which fly over the freeways and measure the cars speed by these things on the side of the road some white markers or something. though i would share.

Only two reasons my front plate is on:
1) It sticks out like a guy hopped up on Viagra. It's great front protection from the tards here in downtown Toronto that don't know how to parallel park.
2) Holes are drilled into the bumper. IMO looks uglier with the plate off and holes visible.
FTR I've also got blue tinted plate covers that I think are illegal here in ON. Been pulled over 3 times in the past year with them on, zero problems.

I have mine on because I dont want to get hassled anymore. Ive only been stopped once for it and it was just a warning, but a stop is a stop and that was a hassle in itself.
Never had front plates in all my cars before except for the TL. funny since Ive had two Evos and a 3000GT and those stuck out more than the TL and yet I was never stopped in any of them.

I know the feeling of getting pulled over with no front license plates. I just got my tl not even a month yet and got pulled over on 9/30/10. The cop asked me if I just bought the car, (it was obvious because I still have the dealer plates on there), he checked up on me and everything and then handed me a fix it ticket!!! I was pissed!
The funny thing was I was still waiting for the plates and already read up on some threads on here for some ideas to put the front plates. I actually went out and already bought the license plate holder thing from auto zone! I just got my license plates and now I need to find a cop to get signed off! Such a hassle and headache!!!

We've run the TL in Colorado without front plates for 2 years now without incident. I've even been pulled over 2 or 3 times for speeding and never been questioned about it. I've never once seen a front plate on a Corvette. I guess they just aren't that strict here.

I bought my TL from a CHP and he didn't have the front plates on it either. I asked him why and he said it just looks better and he didn't have to worry about it. I slapped the A-Spec kit on it and I don't want to imagine it with the plates on. I think the original owner would help me out if I got a fix it anyways.
IMO, having the full plate mounted on either front side looks worse than simply mounting it where it was meant to be. It's probably not legal but could you just fold the top and bottom 2" or so and leave it at that? It would leave the license visible but fold back the state and you'd have to move the sticker lower. That might look ok mounted inside one of the front two sides similar to the pic above but outside.

I am in NYC and have not had my front plate on. I am pretty sure I live in the most strict city and I get away with it.

I will not hesitate to call 911 when I see somebody speeding that fast. I've done it before and I'll do it again. When you have a family member killed because of somebody driving 120MPH+, then you can criticize me.

So Far no Ticket for my TL..but I had my Expedition cited...It has the license plate holder but inside I have a Harley Davidson Plate....The truck was parked in Los Angeles in Melrose and when I got back I saw a beautiful envelope on my windshield...Thought it was a love letter. HA! Easy money for the city.

I have no front license plate and so far I haven't been hassled for it in the nearly 5 years I've owned my car. My GN has a custom front plate and I got a fix it ticket many years ago but the cop pulled me over looking for anything and everything he could because in his words I was "the head of the street racing" lol. Other than that, one time in the 16 years I've owned it.
My CHP friend always points out that my front plate must've fallen off again. The other day I was leaving a friend's house as he was pulling up and as I passed him he said "don't think I can't see you talking on your phone through your tinted windows" lol.
As he says and the other officer said, front license plate violations are usually something they use to pull you over when they're suspicious but have nothing else. It can also be icing on the cake when you get someone who is being rude.

drove 5 years w/o a front plate, and fortunately, never got hassled for it (even when getting pulled over for other "things"). i was definitely one of the lucky ones. a few of my friends have gotten tickets even from meter maids. i'm thinking of leaving the front plates on my TL on... it's just not worth the hassle.
btw... any ideas for good looking license plate frames?

I had to mount my front plate when I was in Hawaii because they're a bunch of crooks over there (different story) but I got it done right at the dealership. Since I left I just got the holes plugged since Nevada doesn't require it.

Back home in Ohio I don't think there's a plate requirement for the front, but I just discovered that here in Utah that's the name of the game.
Although I like not having a plate on, having one less thing for the popo to get me for is a good thing. Plus the molded accessory mount for the front plate doesn't look half bad (at least it's actually designed for the car, unlike American cars which all-too-often have it molded as part of the bumper). I ordered it the other day and it should be a snap to put on.
Plus I am just waiting for the day when some moron backs into me. I'd rather let that thing get thrashed instead of having to replace the front bumper completely because of the lack of buffer.
