No Fogs on an 07-08 Bumper

Hey Everyone...

I have an 05 AT NBP TL and am in the process of getting a new bumper. I got in an accident, and it just urks to see my 3G TL look so horrible from the front, but it will have to do until I get a new bumper. So my options are pretty obvious if I want to keep the factory look. Either I get a new bumper for my year/model or I go the 07-08 Base/Type-S route. I like the minor changes in the looks of the 07-08 bumpers, but I don't really care for the cost and time it would take to wire/rewire fog lights down to the lower grills.

Has anyone actually upgraded or set up there 07-08 bumper without fog lights in the bottom? What kind of custom grill did you use to cover up the hole or to not have a hole at all? Any suggestions on some places that would sell this type of lower grill?

I have looked all over and I know there are a ton of threads on convertions, but I think this one is different...so please don't slander me with the typical "use the search feature" "blah blah noob blah"...

Any useful insight/thoughts/experiences?

Thanks

Here are some pictures of my bumper as it is now...sigh...smh

OH...what you might also notice is that my passenger side headlight & center mesh grill is cracked and a little messed up from the accident. I will have to get them replaced which makes it that much harder to decide on which bumper to get (since the 07-08 would require a new center grill anyway...)!!

Sorry to hear about your car. I had the same issue and replaced mine with a Type-S bumper. I wanted a non-S, but the body shop got confused and got the S.

In case you didn't know, while the 07-8 Type-S and base bumper will fit without any changes, all the other trim parts are different and will need to be changed.

If you go with the Type-S, you may also want to replace the little hood trim piece too. The Type-S is a dark chrome while the base (and yours) is that silver color.

Having said all this, I did install foglights. The wiring was rather easy and inexpensive. I bought the cheap Depo aftermarket lights on Ebay. I had to buy the Honda foglight switch, connecting harness, and an automotive relay. The hardest part of the entire install was pushing the +12V sense wire through the firewall.

I didn't get the fog lights at the same time as the bumper install and drove around for a couple of weeks with nothing in the lower openings. It is ugly.

There are a few people here who have done mesh installs. I believe the opinions are mixed, but you should be able to find them fairly easily and decide for yourself.

Thanks for the quick response and feedback MasterShake...

Do you know anyone in particular that might have gone the custom mesh route for the lower grill? I have been looking through azine for about 2 months now to no avail...

BTW...Why didn't you use the switch that the TL comes with?

Anyone else have any thoughts?

Are you at all interested in my 07-08 type-s bumper? It is just as you described, without the center grill and without lower fogs or grills. I actually like the look of it, since open grills on the bottom of the bumper make the car look aggressive.

Let me know if you're interested, it's FS in the black market and I'm local too.

Hey Twisdit

...so I am assuming your car was upgraded to the newer bumpers right?

How did you wire the fogs? Did you use the factory switch that comes with the earlier TLs (04-06) or did you go a whole other route (i.e. separate independent switch)?

Thanks for all of your input BTW...the pics were very helpful...
