No-cheese headlights???
No-cheese headlights???
Hey all I was wondering where I can get the all clear Headlights on the 3rd gen TL, the ones with no orange sides, but instead all clear (cheese is for the orange part--slang term around my way) lol.
there are many threads on this
you dont "get" them.. you have to remove the headlights and remove the amber, or "cheese" strip. some people choose to black them out and some choose to leave them clear.

^ That is correct. Either DIY or have a someone else (like a body shop) do it for you.

Do it yourself
It is is VERY easy following the posts that Datrman provided above.

took me about 5 hours total, and i had never removed the bumper before.
WARNING, if you are going to get the chrome turn signal bulbs that light up amber like I did, order them BEFORE you do the headlights. you must remove the bumper & hedlight assemblies to replace the turn signal bulbs.
Unfortunately I did not know this so a week after I did the headlights I had to do everything again to swap the signal bulbs

I am glad you mentioned it, not only to benefit others, but also for ME. This is also the best way to replace the bulbs for the fogs i just installed, so I am REALLY glad you mentioned this.
This is definately one of those things where I am hitting myself on the head asking why didn't i think of that

I didn't use any
I didn't add any. I was just very careful when i did mine to keep all of the factory sealant in the channels of the black part of the headlight. I also did the slow "repack" method. I put the headlight back togethro, put it back in the oven for 10 minutes, pushed the two halves togethor as hard as i could, back in the oven for 10 min, push togethor, 10 more in the oven, push togethor, then mount back on the car.

Ha - ha, got you!
Finally, I am right on one & you are wrong on one
look at the picture below and you will see what I mean.

I know, you thought I was talking about the factory "fog lights". and yes for those you are correct.
I was referring to changing the bulbs on my new fog lights that are in the location they SHOULD have been from the beginning.
When trying to change the bulbs on those I think your wheel well idea is an easier way to go than trying to go from underneath.

There is a very detailed thread on this..It took me a total of probably 15 hours as well and i ended up blacking mine out..go to the garage for the Lighting DIY. I'm also gonna be switching my light bulbs today and im gonna go through the wheel well and see how that works out.
BTW Terminix-I love the TLS tail lights and the 07 fog lights..you should try putting in the door molding strip on the middle one if you want to make it look like the new 07 OEM..looks great though
