no AVS = better feel/power? 6MT

Seems when i turn off VSA the car is much easier to control, has better acceleration and feel.

I can't be the only one?

It actually feels significantly faster as well. Almost like VSA holds it back.

Any thoughts?

It feels like I'm actually in control of the car. There is a marked difference (to me)

vsa is there for a reason. lets see how much control you have when you lose traction and have to bail yourself out. not saying that vsa is onipotent but its probably better than we are.

Digital,

No offense meant, but.....

I'd much rather have control of my traction than a computer. With VSA on I feel disconnected from the ground.

And this is not meant to brag by anyway shape or form but I MUST feel my car and MUST have control of traction/throttle. Basically if she slips somewhere I want to feel it/know it/predict it and gingerly pull her back in line.

I've been all over the road before and the throttle is your best friend.

<---remembers having to do threshold braking at 90 MPH halfway through a tight/sweeping left hander and having the car just go nuts (99 prelude SH.) I had no other choice...car was stopped in the middle of the road. Only thing that saved me was more throttle once I got the speed down otherwise her weight was all over the place bucking like a freaking bronco.

-edit- Sorry to come off so cocky. But the car does feel a little "weird" with VSA on.

IMHO

Would this make a power difference in the 5AT? I've never even pushed it before (the VSA Button)

bdowell, this is what it's all about
I don't know much about the subject, but I will give it a shot w/ my limited understanding

VSA works electronically to control braking and engine power. This is done in a manner to keep the car stable. If you are racing and hit the gass too fast from launch your wheels could very well spin due to power. The VSA would interpret this as loss of traction and reduce engine power and throttle to compensate and regain control. During this type of racing where you take the car to the limit or shoot around corners the VSA kicks in to stop you form powerslidign and such. During regular driving I assume it is fine, but by turning it off you should get more control during these "performance" runs if you like to control the car yourself and know the feel for it. Otherise power could very well be restricted as the computer does not distinguis race sliding from bad weather sliding. So that is my thoguhts as they appliy to the 5 spd auto as well. Should make no diff during regular driving. Hope this helps

Anyone feel free to correct this as it is just my interpretation.
